Abstract

ABSTRAK Pendidikan merupakan usaha sadar dan terencana untuk mewujudkan proses dan suasana belajar agar peserta didik lebih aktif mengembangkan dirinya. Kemampuan berbahasa dalam pendidikan memiliki 4 kemampuan yaitu; membaca, menulis, berbicara dan menyimak. Kemampuan membaca pemahaman adalah proses perolehan makna oleh pembaca terhadap isi bacaan. Adapun rumusan masalah yang hendak dikaji dalam penelitian ini ialah, bagaimana kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa siswa kelas V, apa penyebab kurangnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V, dan bagaimana upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V. Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dari penelitian ini ialah, untuk mengetahui kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V, untuk mengetahui penyebab kurangnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V, dan untuk mengetahui upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus dengan subjek penelitian 6 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu tes, wawancara, dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa masih terdapat kesulitan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa, siswa rendah dalam menemukan ide pokok dari sebuah paragraf, mengartikan makna kata, menulis kembali cerita berdasarkan apa yang telah siswa baca sesuai dengan susunan organisasi yang tepat, menangkap makna tersurat dan tersirat. Temuan tersebut disebabkan karena siswa sulit dalam membangun konsentrasi untuk fokus dalam membaca, suasana hati siswa saat membaca yang tidak baik, perbendaharaan kata siswa yang masih kurang, lingkungan tempat siswa tinggal, dan kurangnya perhatian bimbingan dan arahan dari orang tua kepada siswa. Kata kunci: Siswa, Bahasa, Kemampuan, Membaca Pemahaman, Guru, Orang tua. ----- ABSTRACT Education is a conscious and planned effort to create a learning process and atmosphere so that students are more active in developing themselves. Language skills in education have 4 abilities, namely; reading, writing, speaking and listening. The ability to read comprehension is the process of acquiring meaning by the reader on the contents of the reading. The formulation of the problem to be studied in this study is, how is the reading comprehension ability of fifth grade students, what are the causes of the fifth grade students' lack of reading comprehension ability, and how are efforts to improve the fifth grade students' reading comprehension ability. The objectives of this research are: , to determine the reading comprehension ability of fifth grade students, to find out the causes of the fifth grade students' lack of reading comprehension ability, and to determine the efforts to improve the fifth grade students' reading comprehension ability. This study used a case study method with 6 students as research subjects. Data collection techniques used are tests, interviews, documentation. The results showed that there were still difficulties in students' reading comprehension skills, students were low in finding the main idea of a paragraph, interpreting the meaning of words, rewriting stories based on what students had read in accordance with the right organizational structure, and capturing explicit and implied meanings. These findings were caused by students having difficulty in building concentration to focus on reading, students' moods when reading were not good, students' vocabulary was still lacking, the environment where students lived, and the lack of attention for guidance and direction from parents to students.
