Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan salah satu kemampuan matematis yang sangat penting untuk dimiliki siswa, kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang dimiliki siswa akan menentukan hasil belajar matematika yang akan diraih oleh siswa. Untuk memecahkan suatu permasalahan matematika, self-efficacy dibutuhkan oleh siswa untuk membantu mengaktualisasikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang dimiliki. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa untuk siswa yang memiliki kategori self-efficacy yang berbeda-beda. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas VII di salah satu SMP di Kota Serang yang sudah mempelajari materi operasi hitung bilangan bulat dan pecahan. Berdasarkan hasil analis data, dapat disimpulkan siswa yang memiliki kategori self-efficacy tinggi selalu merasa yakin terhadap kemampuan matematis yang dimiliki dan memenuhi dua indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Siswa yang memiliki kategori self-efficacy sedang cenderung merasa ragu atau kurang yakin terhadap kemampuan matematis yang dimiliki dan tidak terdapat karakteristik kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang sama pada indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang digunakan. Siswa yang memiliki kategori self-efficacy rendah selalu merasa tidak yakin terhadap kemampuan matematis yang dimiliki dan belum memenuhi seluruh indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis. Walaupun demikian, siswa dengan kategori self-efficacy rendah menunjukkan adanya usaha untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Kata kunci: kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, self-efficacy Mathematical problem solving ability is one of the most important mathematical ability for student to have, the mathematical problem solving ability of student will determine the mathematics learning outcomes that will be achieved by student. To solve mathematics problem, self-efficacy is needed by student to help actualize their mathematical problem solving ability. The purpose of this research is to describe the mathematical problem solving ability of students who have different category of self-efficacy. This research was qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The subjects of this research were seventh grade students at one of the Junior High School in Serang City who had studied the topic of integer and fraction arithmetic operations. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that students who had high self-efficacy always feel confident about their mathematical ability and were able to fulfill two indicators of mathematical problem solving ability. Students who had moderate self-efficacy tend to feel doubtful about their mathematical ability and there were no similar characteristics of mathematical problem solving ability in the indicators used. Students who had low self-efficacy always feel not sure of their mathematical ability and had not able to fulfill all indicators of mathematical problem solving ability. Even though students with low self-efficacy showed that they were trying to solve mathematics problems. Keywords: mathematical problem solving ability, self-efficacy
