Abstract

Curriculum 2013 is a curriculum applicable in the Indonesian Education System. One of the reasons for developing the 2013 curriculum is the ability to think critically. The learning model that can improve students' critical thinking skills is the coopertive learning model of the Think Pair Share (TPS) technique. The objectives of this study are two, that is: 1) To determine the effect of the application of the cooperative learning model of TPS technique on students' critical thinking; 2) To determine the difference in the improvement of students' critical thinking skills between the cooperative learning model of the TPS technique and the conventional lecture method. This study used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. The results of this study are: 1) The application of the think pair share type coopertive learning model has an effect on the improvement of students’ critical thinking skills; 2) The conventional model can improve students’ critical thinking skills, however the cooperative learning model is much higher and considered more effective in improving students critical thinking skills. The implication of this research is that teachers are advised to apply the TPS type learning that requires high analysis and understanding in order to make it easier for students to understand material that is considered difficult to understand, and to improve students' critical thinking skills.
