Abstract

ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF TEACHERS’ ROLE IN TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS ON THE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THE CLASS 10th GRADE STUDENTS OF OFFICE GOVERNANCE AUTOMATION PROGRAM IN OFFICE TECHNOLOGY SUBJECT By: Rizki Mayadi Kuncoro 1608000 This thesis is guided by: Dr. Rini Intansari Meilani, M.Pd. The problems invetigated in this research are related to the non-optimal learning outcomes of the tenth grade students in the Office Technology Subject in a vocational high school in West Bandung Regency, which is presumably influenced by the ineffective role of teachers in teaching and learning. Through an explanatory survey method, data on the level of effectiveness of teachers’ role in the instructional process were obtained from a questionnaire distributed to 92 tenth-grade students, whereas data of student learning outcomes were obtained from the students’ final score. The data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The result of the descriptive analysis indicate that the effectiveness of teachers’ role in the teaching and learning process was in the “quite effective” category, and the level of student learning outcomes was in the medium category. The inferential analysis result futher show that teachers’ role in the instructional process had a positive impact on student learning outomes. The findings support the learning theory emphasizing the importance of teacher’s role in helping students to achieve optimal learning outcomes. Keywords: Students’ learning outcomes, teacher’s role in the instructional process, vocational high school.
