Abstract

Cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills of students on dynamic electricity are things that must be considered. Based on the results of a preliminary study, it is stated that the cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills of students are still low. Therefore, a study was conducted that aimed to gain effectiveness on the improvement of students' cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills using a project-based learning model with vocational-based worksheets. The research method used is a quasi-experimental (quasi-experimental) with a pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at one of the SMK Kab. Labuhanbatu with a sample of 20 students using instruments in the form of multiple choice questions consisting of 25 items for the cognitive abilities of students and multiple choice questions with reason for critical thinking skills of students. The results showed that there was an influence in improving cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills on dynamic electrical material with n-gain values of 0,31 and 0,31 respectively and included in the moderate category. Increased cognitive abilities and critical thinking skills have an impact on students with an effect size value of 1,14 and 0,83 which are included in the high category
