Abstract

ABSTRAK Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di sekolah akan selalu meliputi empat keterampilan berbahasa, salah satunya berbicara. Agar menjadi pembicara yang terampil, seseorang harus menguasai terlebih dulu mengenai topik yang akan diungkapkan. Namun, kenyataannya tidak mudah bagi peserta didik mengungkapkan pemahamannya mengenai suatu topik dengan berbicara secara langsung. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh metode Show and Tell berbantuan media Instagram Television (IGTV) dalam pembelajaran keterampilan berbicara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan jenis eksperimen kuasi dan memiliki desain control group design. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Bandung dengan subjek penelitian kelas VIII-A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII-B sebagai kelas kontrol. Alasan pemilihan metode pembelajaran dalam penelitian ini bertujuan membantu peserta didik dalam menyampaikan pemahamannya secara lisan dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan yang dijalaninya. Temuan dari penelitian ini berdasarkan perhitungan menunjukkan perolehan nilai rata-rata tahap prates kelas eksperimen adalah 48 dan tahap pascates 84, sedangkan nilai rata-rata tahap prates kelas kontrol sebesar 40 dan tahap pascates sebesar 67. Selain itu, berdasarkan uji hipotesis hasil data kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol dilihat dari kolom t-test for Equality of means sig. (2-tailed) yang menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansinya adalah 0,001. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa H1 diterima dan H0 ditolak karena hasil signifikansinya < 0,05 (0,001<0,05). Maka dapat disimpulkan terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan keterampilan berbicara mengulas karya menggunakan metode Show and Tell berbantuan media IGTV pada kelas eksperimen dengan yang tidak menggunakan metode tersebut pada kelas kontrol. In order to become a skilled speaker, someone is required first to master the topics that are going to be revealed. However, in reality, it is not easy for students to express their understanding of a topic by directly speak it out. Based on this background, this study aimed to see the effect of the Show and Tell method by the help of Instagram Television (IGTV) media in learning speaking skills. This research used quantitative method with a quasi-experimental type and had a control group design. The research was conducted in SMP Negeri 2 Bandung with eight grade students as the subject. The researcher chose class VIII-A as the experimental class and class VIII-B as the control class. The reason of choosing the learning method in this study aimed to help students convey their understanding orally in various aspects of life that they live in. The findings of this study were based on calculations showing the average value of the pre-test stage for the experimental class is 48 and 84 for the post-test stage, while the average value of the pre-test stage for the control class is 40 and for the post-test stage is 67. In addition, based on hypothesis testing on the data of the experimental class and control class, and seen from the column of t-test for Equality of means sig. (2-tailed) which showed that the significance value is 0.001. This showed that H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected because the significance result is <0.05 (0.001 <0.05). So it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the speaking skills of reviewing works using the Show and Tell method by the help of IGTV media in the experimental class with those who were not using this method in the control class.
