Abstract

Analysis of Student’s Errors in Solving Circle Tangent Material Problems Based on Watson Criteria. Mathematics has an important role in solving problems that occur in everyday life. Research related to error analysis is very important and must be continuously developed so that every educator knows what mistakes are made by their students. This study aims to describe the spread of the types of mistakes that students make in solving circular tangents based on Watson criteria, percentage size, and how to solve them. This type of research is a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study numbered 31 students in grade VIII. The results of the study in the form of student answers analyzed based on Watson criteria are inappropriate data (id) that occurs the most, above other (ao), skills hierarchy problems (shp), inappropriate procedures (ip), omitted conclusion (oc), undirected manipulation (um), omitted data (od) and response level conflict (rlc) that occurs the least. There are ways to overcome the mistakes made by students by increasing the practice of problems, familiarizing the aperception, and affirming the steps in solving the problem accompanied by attention (special or ordinary). Keywords: error analysis, circle tangents, error criteria according to watson
