Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika menurut klasifikasi Kastolan. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas IX dari salah satu SMP di Kota Cimahi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan instrumen tes berupa tes dengan indikator pemecahan masalah pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar dan wawancara siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan semua jenis kesalahan menurut klasifikasi Kastolan, yaitu kesalahan konsep, prosedur dan teknik. Kesalahan yang paling banyak ditemukan adalah kesalahan konsep. Faktor penyebab terjadinya kesalahan, yaitu: 1) siswa tidak dapat menentukan rumus luas permukaan dan volume, 2) siswa hanya mengahafal rumus tanpa mengetahui syarat keberlakuan rumus, 3) siswa tidak teliti dalam perhitungan, dan 4) siswa tidak terbiasa dalam menuliskan satuan luas This study aims to describe the mistakes of students in solving math story problems according to the Kastolan classification. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a case study research approach. The subjects of this study were students of class IX from a junior high school in Cimahi City. Data collection was carried out using a test instrument in the form of a test with problem solving indicators on the polyhedron topic and student interviews. Based on the research results, all types of errors were found according to the Kastolan classification, namely errors in concepts, procedures and techniques. The most common mistakes are errors in concepts. The factors that cause errors are: 1) students cannot determine the formula for surface area and volume, 2) students only memorize the formula without knowing the conditions for the formula, 3) students are not careful in calculations, and 4) students are not used to writing area units.
