Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh munculnya permasalahan pembentukan karakter siswa di sekolah yang cenderung mengabaikan nilai-nilai moral. Tujuan penelitian yakni mengungkap profil karakter siswa, mengetahui muatan cerita yang dapat mengembangkan karakter, dan uji coba keefektifan program bimbingan kelompok melalui teknik bercerita dalam mengembangkan karakter siswa. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan yakni pendekatan kuantitatif-kualitatif, dengan metode penelitian tindakan. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen pengungkap karakter siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: a) profil karakter siswa menunjukkan kategori kuat pada aspek pengetahuan moral, perasaan moral, dan perilaku moral; b) muatan cerita dalam program bimbingan kelompok melalui teknik bercerita dapat mengembangkan karakter siswa; dan c) program bimbingan kelompok melalui teknik bercerita efektif untuk mengembangkan karakter siswa. Rekomendasi penelitian memberikan implikasi kepada: a) konselor; b) pihak sekolah; dan c) peneliti selanjutnya. This research is motivated by the emergence of character problems formation of students in the school who ignore moral values. The purpose of this research which reveals character profiles of students, knowing the content that the story can build character, and test the effectiveness of the group guidance program through storytelling techniques in building character of the students. The research approach used the quantitative-qualitative approach, with the action research method. Data collection is using the instruments which expressing the character of the students. The results show: a) the student's character profile shows strong category on aspects of moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral behavior, b) the content of the stories in group guidance program through storytelling techniques to build a student's character and c) the group guidance program through effective storytelling technique aim to building character of the students. Implications to the research make recommendations for: a) counselor; b) the school of commite, and c) for the next researcher.
