Abstract

Kualitas suatu tulisan ditentukan oleh aspek-aspek yang menyusun tulisan tersebut. Pada teks deskripsi aspek-aspek yang harus diperhatikan adalah kejelasan objek yang dideskripsikan, ide pokok, penyusun paragraf, tata bahasa, serta penggunaan ejaan. Namun aspek-aspek tersebut sering tidak diperhatikan pada saat menyusun teks deskripsi. Permasalahan pada penelitian ini adalah kualitas karangan deskripsi dan kesalahan ejaan yang sering dilakukan pada saat menyusun teks deskripsi. Maka dari itu penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas karangan deskripsi siswa dan mendeskripsikan kesalahan ejaan yang terdapat pada karangan deskriptif siswa kelas IV SDN Leuwiliang. Kesalahan yang dideskripsikan difokuskan kepada kesalahan penulisan ejaan yang dilakukan oleh siswa. Kesalahan tersebut meliputi kesalahan pemakaian huruf, kesalahan penulisan kata dan kesalahan penggunaan tanda baca. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Objek penelitian yang diteliti adalah penerapan keterampilan menulis dan penggunaan ejaan pada subjek penelitian yaitu karangan deskriptif siswa kelas IV SDN Leuwiliang. Instrumen dari penelitian ini adalah human instrument, yaitu peneliti itu sendiri. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, karangan deskriptif siswa memiliki kualitas yang baik. Adapun kesalahan ejaan dari 18 karangan deskriptif siswa ditemukan kesalahan pemakaian huruf berjumlah 378 kesalahan, kesalahan penulisan kata berjumlah 145 kesalahan, dan kesalahan penggunaan tanda baca sejumlah 70 kesalahan. Hal ini berarti walaupun tingkat kesalahan penggunaan ejaan masih terbilang tinggi sehingga guru harus lebih memberikan perhatian dalam pembelajaran ejaan di sekolah dasar. ----- The quality of a writing is determined by the aspects that make up the writing. In the description text, the aspects that must be considered are the clarity of the object described, main ideas, paragraph compilers, grammar, and use of spelling. However, these aspects are often overlooked when compiling the descriptive text. The problem in this research is the quality of the description essay and the spelling mistakes that are often made when compiling the description text. Therefore, this study aims to determine the quality of student description essays and to describe spelling errors found in the descriptive essays of fourth grade students of SDN Leuwiliang. The errors described were focused on the spelling mistakes made by the students. These errors include misuse of letters, errors in writing words and errors in using punctuation marks. This research method uses qualitative methods. The research object studied was the application of writing skills and the use of spelling in the research subject, namely the descriptive essay of the fourth grade students of SDN Leuwiliang. The instrument of this research is a human instrument, namely the researcher himself. Based on the research results, the students' descriptive essays have good quality. As for the spelling errors of 18 students' descriptive essays, there were 378 letter errors, 145 word writing errors, and 70 punctuation errors. This means that although the level of spelling errors is still relatively high, teachers should pay more attention to learning spelling in elementary schools.
