Abstract
Researches on ability in self-directed learning of youth and its development provide an answer to the problem of die low aspiration among (he youth to materialize concept dial have been learned in reality, to actulize themseves and benefit from educational process. They may also give an account of why the youth are under psycologicai and cultural pressures and why the educational system has a low performace. They also show us the way to anticipate a global change. The selection of the focus was based on opinion mat the youth is one of neglected groups while the theme of ability of self-directed learning is the latest stage in a learning process continuum as well as part of competence in (he nonformal education. Through the research, it was expected that the concepts of youth development, which is related to the use of resources, release from the pressure and youth anticipation of global changes, would be established. The theories regarded to have some significance in dealing with the focus above are the theory of critical paedagogy and the fheory of modernization The first is related to the paradigm of change in learning as an educational factor which emphasizes an efficient use of resources such as the self as resource, environment and others inputs. Then, (he second theory related to the impilication of utilizing resources in order to increase external productivity of education including to give meaning to such subject both for the learner and the society. This research gave more emphasis on why the youth can make an access to resources, increase self-awareness, make use of resources and anticipate changes. Due to its characteristic which tended to be an inquiry in an ethnographical setting, the major research method used was the qualitative method. The results of observation consist, firstly, of educational restructurization, which emphasizes (hat the educational scope must be broadened from delivery system and socialization to ability to develop and create new values trough the ability to access resources both to the learner and to the environment Secondly, of changing die revitalization of learning as a life ethic which the extension from training and teaching into the ability to do self-directed learning by searching simple concepts in society, develop and make use for the learner and the society.
