Abstract

Concept image merupakan representasi visual serta seluruh struktur kognisi yang ada dalam benak individu yang terasosiasi terhadap konsep. Concept image setiap individu terhadap konsep yang sama dapat bereda-beda sesuai dengan perspektif dan pengalaman-pengalaman yang telah dimiliki sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perbedaan concept image matematikawan, guru dan siswa terhadap materi bangun datar kelas IV Sekolah Dasar, dimana sebelumnya siswa telah mempelajari materi tersebut di kelas. Selanjutnya, concept image yang dimiliki oleh siswa akan dibandingkan dengan concept image guru dan concept image ideal menurut matematikawan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian fenomenologi hermeneutik yang merupakan sebuah kajian yang dilakukan untuk menginterpretasikan suatu makna yang diperoleh seorang terhadap suatu pengalaman. Siswa yang diteliti berjumlah 38 orang yang terdiri dari dua kelas dengan guru yang berbeda. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan terdapat perbedaan concept image yang cukup jauh antara guru dengan siswa yang terjadi di kelas A sedangkan, di kelas B tidak terdapat perbedaan concept image yang jauh antara guru dengan siswa. Hal itu disebabkan karena cara mengajar guru dan alur mengajar yang kurang baik dilakukan oleh guru yang menyebabkan concept image siswa menjadi kurang baik.

CONCEPT IMAGE DIFFERENCES IN MATHEMATICS ON THE TWO-DIMENTIONAL FIGURE MATERIAL OF FOURTH GRADE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Concept image is a visual representation as well as all cognitive structures in the minds of individuals associated with the concept. The concept image of each individual towards the same concept can vary according to the perspectives and experiences that have been previously had. This study aims to examine the differences in the concept image of mathematicians, teachers and students on the flat shape material for grade IV elementary schools, where previously students have studied the material in class. Furthermore, the concept image possessed by students will be compared with the concept image of the teacher and the ideal concept image according to mathematicians. This study uses a qualitative approach with the hermeneutic phenomenological research method, which is a study conducted to interpret the meaning that one gets about an experience. The number of students studied was 38 people consisting of two classes with different teachers. Based on the research that has been done, there is a significant difference in concept image between teachers and students that occurs in class A, whereas, in class B there is not much difference in concept image between teachers and students. This is because the teacher's teaching method and teaching flow are not well done by the teacher which causes the concept image of students to be less good.
