Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan yang sering dihadapi siswa pada pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi di kelas VIII. Permasalahan tersebut meliputi kesulitan dalam mengembangkan ide ke dalam sebuah tulisan, kurangnya informasi serta siswa yang kurang diajak berkontribusi sehingga mempengaruhi hasil tulisan teks eksposisi siswa. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mengujicobakan metode Buzz Group sebagai salah satu cara untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan siswa kelas VIII SMPN 32 Bandung dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan metode Buzz Group di kelas eksperimen serta mendeskripsikan ada tidaknya perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi siswa kelas VIII SMPN 32 Bandung di kelas eksperimen dan di kelas kontrol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yakni eksperimen kuasi dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Tahapan penelitian yang dilakukan antara lain melakukan tes awal, perlakuan, dan melakukan tes akhir. Penelitian ini menggunakan dua kelompok subjek yakni kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Alat ukur yang dijadikan ukuran keberhasilan penelitian ini yakni teks eksposisi yang telah ditulis oleh siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh hasil yang menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen meningkat setelah mendapatkan perlakuan dengan menggunakan metode Buzz Group. Nilai rata-rata tes awal adalah 72, kemudian meningkat pada tes akhir menjadi 77. Melalui hasil uji hipotesis didapatkan hasil bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menulis teks eksposisi siswa di kelas eksperimen setelah diberikan perlakuan dengan kelas kontrol yang tidak diberi perlakuan. Hasil uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa t hitung > t tabel, yakni 2,278 > 2,024. Maka dari itu, berdasarkan hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Buzz Group efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksposisi. Kata kunci: menulis, teks eksposisi, metode Buzz Group Abstract This research begun by problem that faced by 8ͭʰ grade students frequently in exposition text writing class. That problem include the difficulty of developing ideas into a text, lack of information and students who are not invited to contribute, that affects the results of students exposition text writing. So by that, researcher tries Buzz Group method as one way for surpassing those problem. This research was conducted to describe the ability of 8ͭʰ grade students of SMPN 32 Bandung in learning to write exposition text before and after using the Buzz Group method in the experimental class and to describe whether there is a significant difference in the ability to write exposition text of 8ͭʰ grade students of SMPN 32 Bandung in experimental class and in control class. Research method that used in this research is quasi experiment with quantitative approach. Research phases that should be done are pretest, intervention, and posttest. This research used two group of research subject which are experiment and control class. Measures instrument that used for looking the successful of this research is exposition text that has been written by students. Research outcome shows that mean score for experiment class increase after getting an intervention with using Buzz Group method. Mean score of pretest is 72, then increase in the posttest become 77. Through hypothesis test result, this research conclude that there is a significant difference between student’s capability of writing exposition text in experiment class and control class after getting an intervention. Hypothesis test result shows that t arithmetic > t tabel, that is 2,278 > 2,024. So by that, this research can summarize that Buzz Group method is effective to be used in exposition text writing class. Keywords: writing, exposition text, Buzz Group method
