Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kemunculan aspek karakter dan peningkatan kemampuan penguasaan konsep siswa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-Create (RADEC). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian campuran dengan rancangan eksperimental. Partisipan penelitian terdiri atas 35 orang siswa kelas V di salah satu sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Sumedang Selatan, Kabupaten Sumedang. Subjek ditentukan secara purposeful sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi terhadap kegiatan pembelajaran, wawancara, observasi terhadap aspek karakter, dan tes kemampuan penguasaan konsep. Tes kemampuan penguasaan konsep diberikan pada awal dan akhir perlakuan, lalu dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji perbedaan dua rataan pretes-postes untuk melihat pencapaian dan kategorisasi skor Ngain utuk melihat peningkatan kemampuan penguasaan konsep. Wawancara dan observasi dilaksanakan selama rentang waktu pelaksanaan perlakuan, lalu dianalisis secara kualitatif. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh hasil, bahwa: 1) pelaksanaan perlakuan model pembelajaran RADEC dapat dilaksanakan dengan efektif secara daring melalui penggunaan WhatsApp; 2) Karakter yang teramati muncul setelah siswa mengikuti aktivitas pembelajaran dengan model RADEC di antaranya meliputi: sikap religius, nasionalis, mandiri, gotong-royong, dan integritas. Penjabaran mengenai karakter-karakter yang muncul dari masing-masing tahapan kegiatan pelaksanaan model pembelajaran RADEC diulas secara lebih mendalam; 3) Pencapaian kemampuan penguasaan konsep siswa setelah mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model RADEC lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan sebelum mengikuti pembelajaran dengan model RADEC. This study aims to see the emergence of character aspects and the improvement of students' mastery of concept skills through the application of the Read-Answer-Discuss-Explain-Create (RADEC) learning model. This study used mixed-methods research with an experimental design. The study participants consisted of 35 fifth grade students at one of elementary school in the Sumedang Selatan District, Sumedang Regency. Subjects were determined by purposeful sampling. Data collection is done by observing learning activities, interviews, observing aspects of character, and testing the ability to master the concepts. The concept mastery ability tests were given at the beginning and the end of the treatment, then analyzed using the difference tests of the two pretest-posttest averages to see the achievement and categorization of N-gain scores to see the improvement of mastery concept. Interviews and observations were carried out over the duration of the treatment, then analyzed qualitatively. From this study the results obtained, that: 1) the implementation of the treatment of the RADEC learning model can be effectively carried out online through the use of WhatsApp; 2) The characters observed appearing after students participate in learning activities using the RADEC model, including: religious attitudes, nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation, and integrity. The description of the characters that emerged from each stage of the implementation of the RADEC learning model was reviewed in more depth; 3) The achievement of students' concept mastery ability after participating in learning with the RADEC model is higher than before learning with the RADEC model.
