Abstract

Delay in speaking is an obstacle that is often found in early childhood speaking skills characterized by unclear word pronunciation and difficulty expressing what is being conveyed. This requires a stimulus that is appropriate to the conditions experienced. This research was conducted on 2 children with the initials MT and RZ who had difficulty speaking in one of the villages in the Pasawahan sub-district, Purwakarta Regency. This study was conducted to stimulate early childhood speaking skills through expressive art therapy. The research method used a single subject research with the A-B-A design. Data collection used speaking skills tests while the data analysis techniques used percentages. Based on the data obtained in the baseline phase 1 (A) to intervention (B), MT subjects increased by 13.6% while RZ subjects experienced an increase of 10%. In the intervention phase (B) to the baseline phase 2 (A ') the MT subject had an increase of 10% while the RZ subject had an increase of 3.4%. For the overall increase from baseline 1 (A) to baseline 2 (A ') the MT subject experienced an increase of 23.6% while the RZ subject experienced an increase of 13.4%. This means that expressive art therapy is effective in improving speaking skills in early childhood.
