Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi pada saat pretest bahwa kemampuan kognitif anak usia 5-6 tahun di Desa Tugu Kabupaten Indramayu belum berkembang dengan optimal. Kemampuan kognitif anak usia 5-6 perlu diperhatikan karena pada usia tersebut anak akan dipersiapkan memasuki jenjang yang lebih tinggi yaitu Sekolah Dasar sehingga membutuhkan keterampilan yang baik dalam proses berfikirnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif anak usia 5-6 tahun melalui percobaan sains sederhana. Metode percobaan sains sederhana dirasa cocok karena anak usia dini senang dengan aktivitas eksploratif, mengenal sesuatu yang baru dan menarik, serta melibatkan dirinya sendiri dalam melakukan percobaan. Partisipan pada penelitian ini yaitu anak usia 5-6 tahun di Desa Tugu Kabupaten Indramayu dengan jumlah 10 anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pre-eksperimen, pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi pada pretest yaitu sebelum diberi perlakuan dan posttest setelah diberi perlakuan dan data diolah dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan bantuan program Microsoft Excel 2010. Tindakan yang diberikan melalui 2 pembelajaran percobaan sains sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa rata-rata pretest dan posttest kemampuan kognitif anak menunjukkan bahwa terdapat selisih sebesar 7,7, dimana rata-rata nilai posttest lebih tinggi dibandingkan nilai pretest. Hasil analisis Paired Sample T-test menunjukkan T hitung sebesar 10,661 dan T tabel sebesar 0,444 sesuai ketentuan dari uji hipotesis apabila –t tabel < t hitung < t tabel maka Ho diterima, jika sebaliknya maka Ho ditolak, dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima dimana terdapat peningkatan kemampuan kognitif anak usia 5-6 tahun di Desa Tugu Indramayu setelah diberi perlakuan percobaan sains sederhana. kata kunci: Kemampuan kognitif ank, anak usia 5-6 tahun, percobaan sains sederhana This research is based on the observation of the pretest that the cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years in Tugu Village, Indramayu Regency had not developed optimally. The cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 need to be considered because at that age the child will be prepared to enter a higher level, namely Elemantaru School so that it requires good skills in the process of thinking. This study aims to improve cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years through simple science experiments. Simple science experimental methods are deemed suitable because early childhood are happy with exploratory activities, recognize something new and interesting, and involve themselves in conducting experiments. Participants in this study were 10 children aged 5-6 years in Tugu Village, Indramayu Regency. This study used a pre-experimental method, data collection was carried out through observation at the pretest, namely before being given treatment and posttest after being treated and the data was processed with a quantitative approach with the help of the Microsoft Excel 2010 program. Actions were given through 2 simple science experiment learning. The results showed that the average pretest and posttest of children's cognitive abilities showed that there was a difference of 7.7, where the average posttest score was higher than the pretest score. The result of Paired Sample T-test analysis shows that T count is 10.661 and T table is 0.444 according to the provisions of the hypothetical test if - t table <t count <t table then Ho is accepted, otherwise Ho is rejected, thus it can be concluded that Ho is rejected and H1 was accepted where there was an increase in cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years in Tugu Indramayu Village after being given a simple science experiment treatment.
