Abstract
Poster adalah salah satu media komunikasi visual yang sering kita jumpai. Sebagai media publikasi pertunjukan seni khususnya seni teater, peran poster tidak hanya sebagai media publikasi namun juga sebagai arsip artistik. Poster yang berusia tua dan diproduksi dengan teknik manual, memiliki nilai historis dan estetik. Teater Sunda Kiwari merupakan salah satu komunitas teater dengan ciri khas naskah berbahasa Sunda, memiliki arsip poster-poster bernilai historis yang dibuat dengan teknik manual. Penelitian ini berfokus pada analisis visual poster pertunjukan teater yang diproduksi Teater Sunda Kiwari secara manual sejak tahun 1979-1995. Adapun perumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: (1) Bagaimana strategi perencanaan poster Teater Sunda Kiwari? (2) Bagaimana proses produksi poster Teater Sunda Kiwari? (3) Bagaimana visualisasi dan makna simbolis poster Teater Sunda Kiwari?. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analitik dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik analisis karya menggunakan model kajian estetik dengan pendekatan kritik dan apresiasi seni. Sebagai landasan penelitian, digunakan teori atau konsep yang berkaitan dengan fokus penelitian. Terutama teori atau konsep yang berkenaan dengan Desain Komunikasi Visual (DKV) secara umum, sejarah poster, pengertian poster, unsur-unsur dan prinsip tata rupa poster serta pengertian teater. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa strategi perencanaan yang digunakan dalam merancang poster pertunjukan Teater Sunda Kiwari yang diproduksi secara manual antara tahun 1979-1995 sangat terpengaruh oleh beberapa faktor seperti anggaran biaya dan ketersediaan waktu produksi. Teknik produksi yang digunakan adalah teknik cetak saring dengan metode transfer. Analisis visual juga memperoleh gambaran umum bahwa ciri poster TSK bergaya ilustrasi simbolik dengan dominasi garis lengkung dan siluet, tipografi sudah memenuhi unsur legibility dan readability, namun memiliki kekurangan pada konsistensi dan proporsi anatomi huruf. Tata letak memiliki ciri khas penggunaan posisi sentral sehingga membentuk symetrical balance. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberi gambaran bagi peneliti lain yang ingin memperdalam dunia poster dan memberikan masukan bagi para desainer poster pertunjukan teater serta menjadi media penyebaran ilmu bagi masyarakat luas.Kata kunci: Poster, Tipografi, Ilustrasi, Komposisi, Teater. Abstract The poster is one of visual communication media publications that often seen by us. As performing arts publications especially in theater art, the role of posters not only as a medium of publication , but also as an archive artistic. Poster with old aged and produced with manual techniques has historical and aesthetic value . Kiwari Sundanese theater is one of of community theater with typical Sundanese manuscripts , has some posters archives with historical value which is made by manual techniques This study focuses on visual analysis playbills that is produced by kiwari Sundanese Theatre manually since 1979-1995. The problem formulation and the aim of this study was to determine : ( 1 ) How the strategic planning of Kiwari Sundanese Theater’s posters ; 2 ) how the process production of the poster Kiwari Sundanese Theater ; 3 ) How the visualization and symbolic meaning kiwari Sundanese theater’s posters . The method that is used in this study is descriptive qualitative analytic approach . . Analysis technique using aesthetic studies model with approach to criticism and art appreciation. As a study platform , used theory or concept which is related to the study focus. Especially theory or concept which is related to Design Visual communication ( Graphic Design ) in general , history of posters , definition of posters , the elements and principles of such a system as well as the sense of theater posters . Based on the result of this study, revealed that the planning strategies that is used in designing posters Kiwari Sundanese Theater performances manually produced between 1979-1995 which is greatly affected by several factors such as budget and time availability production. Production technique that is used is screen printing techniques with transfer method. Visual analysis also get a general overview that characterize TSK -style poster illustration with the Characteristic poster symbolic illustration style with a predominance of curved lines and silhouettes , typography meets the legibility and readability elements , but has shortcomings in consistency and anatomical proportions letters . Feature layout using symmetrical balance. This study is expected to give an overview for other researchers who want to deepen the world of posters and give some input for the designer of playbills and become the media of science for public.
