Abstract

ABSTRACT The Development of The Patriotism Character Through Singing National Songs Activities. Global competition has an impact on national culture existence which starting to erode. The presence of modern art has made young people place their choices on foreign cultures. This affects the love of the motherland which began to fade. So there needs to be an effort to strengthen again the love of the motherland for the sake of maintaining national identity. On this basis, this research was conducted to analyze the process of strengthening the character of patriotism through singing national songs on Harmony Choir extracurricular activities. This research uses a qualitative approach and descriptive method. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, documentation studies, literature studies, and interviews with administrators and teachers of Extracurricular Harmony Choir. The results showed that (1) The Compulsory Song contains elements of patriotic value, expressions of love of homeland, mutual support, courage, independence, national spirit, and expressions of gratitude to God for independence; (2) Harmony Choir's extracurricular activities are carried out by four methods, namely: moralizing method, modeling method, and VCT (Value Clarification Technique) method; (3) behaviors that are reflected after receiving guidance include: protecting the environment, prioritizing common interests, upholding unity, delighting in using the results of regional culture, and actively engaging in social activities; and (4) the contribution of the coaching model in this study to the Civic Education Study is to encourage the realization of the vision of Civic Education, enrich the approaches and teaching methods in Civic Education, and encourage the development of national character.
