    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam berkreasi, dimana pembelajaran di kelas lebih bersifat teacher centered. Hal ini mengakibatkan siswa menjadi pasif dalam pembelajaran seni di kelas. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam berkreasi dengan menggunakan stimulus tari Rantak. Penelitian ini menggabungkan antara teori konstruksi tari yang dikemukakan oleh Jacqueline Smith (1985) dan komposisi tari yang dikemukakan oleh Soedarsono (1978) sebagai langkah-langkah penciptaan tari kreasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Action Research dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII.1 SMP Negeri 31 Padang yang berjumlah 33 siswa dengan dan sampel sebanyak 20 orang siswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa teori konstruksi dan komposisi tari yang dikemukakan oleh kedua tokoh tersebut dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam berkreasi. Hal ini ditunjukan dengan terwujudnya karya tari kreasi siswa berbasis tari Rantak dan meningkatnya kemampuan siswa dengan rentang nilai 81,90 yag didapatkan berupa kemampuan siswa dalam meningkatkan kreativitas berkreasi, modifikasi gerak, komposisi tari, irama dan kekompakan dalam kelompok. Pembelajaran ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berkreasi siswa dalam menciptakan tari kreasi melalui tari Rantak sebagai stimulus.

    This study is back grounded by the lack of creative ability among students, in which learning in class is more teacher centered. It makes students become passive in art learning in class. The aim of this study is to enhance students’ creative by using stimulus of Rantak dance. This study combined dance construction theory proposed by Jacqueline Smith (1985) and dance composition proposed by Soedarsono (1978) as the steps to create the creation dance. This study used Action Research method with quantitative approach. The population in this study were the entire students of class VII.1 SMPN 31 Padang with total of 33 students and samples were 20 female students. The study result showed that construction theory and dance composition proposed by those two figures can enhance students’ creative ability. It was shown by the realization of students’ creation dance work based on Rantak dance and enhancement in students’ ability by obtaining score of 81.90 in the form of students’ ability in enhancing the creativity, movement modification, dance composition, rhythm and cohesiveness in group. This learning can enhance students’ creative ability in creating the creation dance through Rantak dance as stimulus.
