Abstract

This study aims to determine the mathematical literacy description of 8th grade junior high school students in a school on change and relationship content based on gender. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method. By using purposive sampling, the research subjects were students in 8th grade consisting of 40 students including 17 male students and 23 female students in one of the junior high schools in Bandung and the question tested was the PISA of change and relationship content. From this study it can be concluded that: 1. Mathematical literacy of 8th grade students on change and relationship content in the research place shows in the good category and the average achievement of formulate indicators is greater than the other two indicators; 2. The ability of male students to achieve mathematical literacy included in the formulate indicator is better than other indicators, but those who are able to answer correctly in the work of the questions can be concluded only few of them; 3. The ability of female students to achieve mathematical literacy included in formulate indicators is greater than other indicators, it can be concluded female students are able to answer questions correctly more than male students.
