Abstract
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji tingkat kompetensi mahasiswa Bahasa Perancis melalui hasil terjemahan teks sastra, yang mana mahasiswa telah menempuh mata kuliah Traduction I dan Traduction II. Penelitian berfokus pada analisis teknik terjemahan yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa secara keseluruhan berdasarkan teori dari Molina dan Albir. Kemudian dilanjutkan pada analisis teknik terjemahan yang paling mendominasi dalam terjemahan mahasiswa tersebut. Penelitian ini juga mengkaji kualitas hasil terjemahan mahasiswa menggunakan teori evaluasi terjemahan dari Brown. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, karena objek penelitian berupa data hasil terjemahan mahasiswa terhadap teks sastra karya Guy de Maupassant, yang berjudul La bûche, Le lit, Fou, Mots d’amour, Le voleur, et Le remplaçant. Dalam praktiknya, mahasiswa menerjemahkan tiga teks terpilih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat sepuluh teknik terjemahan yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa, yaitu teknik peminjaman, teknik kalke, teknik kompensasi, teknik kreasi diskursif, teknik amplifikasi linguistik, teknik terjemahan harfiah, teknik modulasi, teknik reduksi, teknik substitusi, dan teknik transposisi. Sementara itu, hanya empat teknik yang paling banyak digunakan, yaitu teknik terjemahan harfiah (42,67%), teknik modulasi (30,33%), teknik kreasi diskursif (16%), teknik kalke (4%). Hasil evaluasi terhadap kualitas terjemahan membuktikan bahwa mahasiswa Bahasa Perancis mampu menghasilkan terjemahan yang baik dan berterima berdasarkan teori kriteria penilaian terjemahan. This research aimed to examine the translation results of the French students at Indonesian university of education, who had taken the translation’s course during two semesters. The research focused on analyzing the translation techniques used by the students in general, as well as examining the translation techniques that contribute the most in the results of the French literary text into Indonesian text, using the theory presented by Molina and Albir. This research also examined the quality of the student’s translation based on Brown’s theory. The research method was descriptive qualitative, because the object was the data from student’s translations of the literary text by Guy de Maupassant, entitled La bûche, Le lit, Fou, Mots d’amour, Le voleur, et Le remplaçant. In practice, students translated the three selected texts. The results showed that, there were ten translation techniques used by students, it’s borrowing, calque, compensation, discursive creation, linguistic amplification, literal translation, modulation, reduction, substitution, and transposition. But there are only four techniques contributed the most, it’s literal translation (42,67%), modulation (30,33%), discursive creation (16%), and calque (4%). The evaluation results on the quality of the translations proved that students of French language were able to produce good translations of literary texts according to the translation assessment.
