Abstract
Gaya kepemimpinan yang demokratis di Front Office Department Sheraton Bandung Hotel & Towers banyak memberikan keleluasaan terhadap karyawannya untuk memberikan pendapat mengenai kinerja Front Office Department guna meningkatkan performa Front Office Department yang merupakan wajah dari sebuah hotel. Permasalahan yang dibahas pada penelitian ini adalah seberapa besar seorang pemimpin yang demokratis dapat memotivasi kerja karyawan dalam bekerja. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengukur seberapa besar pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan yang demokratis terhadap motivasi kerja karyawan Front Office Department Sheraton Bandung Hotel & Towers. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif dan verifikatif, yaitu penelitian yang lebih mengarah pada pembuktian masalah yang terdapat pada keadaan faktual di lapangan. Teori-teori yang berkaitan dan mendukung untuk penelitian ini antara lain; dasar-dasar manajemen, konsep dasar gaya kepemimpinan, teori kepemimpinan situasional, tipe kepemimpinan dalam organisasi, konsep dasar motivasi, bentuk motivasi, teknik pengukuran motivasi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner yang ditujukan kepada karyawan Front Office Department Sheraton Bandung Hotel & Towers guna mengetahui kondisi kerja karyawan Front Office terhadap gaya kepemimpinan demokratis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada pembahasan yang disertai dengan teori-teori yang mendukung. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan di Front Office Department menunjukkan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan demokratis memberikan pengaruh sebesar 43.6% terhadap motivasi kerja, sedangkan sisanya sebesar 56.4% motivasi kerja dapat dijelaskan oleh variabel lainnya. Dari data yang diperoleh dari penelitian di lapangan, maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa, gaya kepemimpinan yang demokratis dapat mempengaruhi motivasi karyawan dalam bekerja. Kata kunci : Gaya Kepemimpinan dan Motivasi Kerja. Issues are adderessed in this research is how big of a democratic leader who can motivate employees to work. Research aims to quantify how much influence a democratic leadership style to employee motivation front office department Sheraton Bandung Hotel & Towers. Types of research used in this research is descriptive analysis and verification, the more research that led to the evidentiary issues contained in the factual situation on the field. Related theories and support for this study, among others management basics, the basics concepts of motivation, motivation shape, motivation measurement techniques. Data collection techniques using a questionaire addresses to the employees of the front office department Sheraton Bandung Hotel & Towers to determine conditions of employment front office to the democratic leadership style. Based on research results in the discussion, along with supporting theories. The results of the research show that the style of leadership in the front office department shows that the democratic leadership style influenced by 43.6% of the work motivation, while the remaining 56.4% of work motivation can be explained by other variables. of data obtained from research in the field, it can be concluded that a democratic leadership style can affect employee motivation at work.
