Abstract

Eksistensi batik cimahi merupakan bukti akan berkembangnya kesenian batik di Jawa Barat. Batik cimahi memiliki motif berbeda dan baru dibandingkan dengan 5 motif pakem batik cimahi yang perlu untuk diteliti lebih dalam. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keinginan penulis untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan (1) analisis visual dan (2) makna simbolis batik cimahi karya Rienny Hadisoebana. Batik yang dibahas yaitu motif Sekar Hanjuang, Sekar Kembang Baros dan Sekar Awi Tamiang. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif yang menghasilkan data deskriptif yaitu berupa penjabaran kata-kata. Data diperoleh dengan teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Penulis memilih 3 sampel dari 61 populasi data batik cimahi karya Rienny H. melalui pemilihan purposive sampling. Temuan penelitian ini bahwa setiap motif batik Cimahi karya Rienny Hadisoebana: (1) mengandung unsur visual dan prinsip visual, (2) mengandung makna simbolis yang berbeda-beda menyesuaikan dengan objek yang menjadi inspirasi tiap motif dan warna batiknya. Walaupun terbilang baru, batik cimahi memiliki motif yang berbeda, menarik, etnik dan amat perlu untuk diteliti dan dipromosikan lebih gencar agar lebih dikenal oleh masyarakat luas sehingga dapat lestari. ABSTRACT The existence of batik cimahi give a proof that batik’s art in West Java is in a good progression. Batik cimahi has a different and new design pattern if we compared to the “5 grip design” that need to be investigated more deeply. This research is motivated by the author's desire to know and describe (1) visual analysis and (2) the symbolic meaning of cimahi batik by Rienny Hadisoebana. The batik discussed are the Pattern of Sekar Hanjuang, Sekar Kembang Baros and Sekar Awi Tamiang. Author uses qualitative research methods that produce descriptive data that is in the form of translation of words. Data obtained by observation, interview and documentation techniques. Author choose 3 sample from 61 population data of batik cimahi creation Rienny H. with selection technique Purposive Sampling. Research finding is each batik Cimahi’s pattern creation by Rienny Hadisoebana: (1) contains elements and principles of visual, (2) contains a diversely symbolic meaning depend on inspiration and color of each patterns. Although fairly new, pattern of batik cimahi has a different variation, interesting, ethnic motive and it’s very necessary to be researched and promoted more intensively in order to be better known by the wider community so that it can be everlasting.
