Abstract

HUBUNGAN LATAR BELAKANG STATUS SOSIAL EKONOMI ORANG TUA TERHADAP MOTIVASI BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK DALAM PEMBELAJARAN IPS KELAS VIII DI SMP PASUNDAN 6 BANDUNG Oleh: Widia Ramdhani Suryadi ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil observasi di SMP Pasundan 6 Bandung yang menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar siswa relatif rendah. Peneliti mendapatkan informasi bahwa peserta didik yang sering tidak masuk sekolah dengan alasan membantu orang tuanya bekerja. Peneliti tertarik untuk melakukan penelitian dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi latar belakang sosial ekonomi peserta didik, gambaran motivasi belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS, dan menganalisis hubungan antara latar belakang status sosial ekonomi orang tua terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah penelitian Survey. Populasi penelitian ialah seluruh kelas VIII di SMP Pasundan 6 Bandung dengan total 221 peserta didik. Teknik sampling yang digunakan ialah rumus Slovin. Sampel penelitian yang digunakan yaitu VIII-A, VIII-B, dan VIII-C, dengan jumlah 103 peserta didik. Pengolahan dan analisis data menggunakan bantuan Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS) versi 22, dengan uji t Korelasi Spearman Rank. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan dan analisis data, diperoleh hasil bahwa kondisi status sosial ekonomi orang tua peserta didik berada dalam kategori sedang atau kelas menengah. Sedangkan untuk motivasi belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS berada dalam kategori sedang. Hasil perhitungan korelasi menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara latar belakang status sosial ekonomi orang tua terhadap motivasi belajar peserta didik dalam pembelajaran IPS. Researchers get information that students who often do not go to school with the excuse of helping their parents work. Researchers are interested in research to determine the condition of the socio-economic background of students, an overview of students' learning motivation in social studies learning, and analyze the relationship between parents' socioeconomic status background to students' learning motivation in social studies learning. The research method used is survey research. The study population was all grade VIII at Pasundan 6 Junior High School Bandung with a total of 221 students. The sampling technique used is the Slovin formula. The research sample used is VIII-A, VIII-B, and VIII-C, with a total of 103 students. Data processing and analysis using the help of Statistical Program for Social Science (SPSS) version 22, with the Spearman Rank Correlation t test. Based on the results of data processing and analysis, it is obtained that the condition of the socioeconomic status of the students' parents is in the medium or middle class category. As for the motivation to learn students in social studies learning is in the medium category. The results of the calculation of the correlation show there is no positive and significant relationship between the background of the socioeconomic status of parents of students' learning motivation in social studies learning.
