Abstract

Kemampuan penalaran matematis merupakan salah satu tujuan pembelajaran yang sangat penting di jenjang SMP, namun hasil studi menunjukan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMP masih belum memuaskan. Oleh karena itu, perlu diupayakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan tersebut dari segi pembelajaran menggunakan model yang tepat. Salah satu model yang diasumsikan dapat meningkatkaan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa SMP adalah model pembelajaran search, solve, create and share (SSCS). Tujuan penelitian kuasi eksperimen ini adalah untuk mengkaji perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran SSCS dan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional serta untuk mengetahui sikap siswa terhadap model pembelajaran SSCS. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII suatu SMP Negeri di Kota Bandung, sampel pada penelitian ini ditetapkan dengan teknik cluster sampling yang terdiri dari dua kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan penalaran matematis dan non-tes, yaitu: lembar observasi, jurnal harian, dan angket. Kesimpulan mengenai hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran SSCS lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran konvensional dan sikap siswa terhadap model pembelajaran SSCS seluruhnya positif. Kata kunci: model pembelajaran search, solve, create and share (SSCS), kemampuan penalaran matematis, sikap siswa terhadap model pembelajaran SSCS. The ability of mathematical reasoning is one of the most important learning objectives in junior high school, but the results of the last recent study showed that mathematical reasoning ability of junior high school students were still not satisfacted. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the capacity in terms of learning to use the right model. One model that is assumed can incraese mathematical reasoning ability junior high school students is learning model search, solve, create and share (SSCS). The purposes of this quasi-experimental study were to assess differences in mathematical reasoning skills students who got learning model SSCS and students who got conventional learning as well as to know students' attitudes. The population was a VII level of one SMPN in Bandung, the sample in this study was determined by cluster sampling technique that consists of two classes. The instruments were consist of mathematical reasoning ability test and non-test, namely: observation sheets, daily journals, and questionnaires. The conclusions of reseach showed that the performance of students mathematical reasoning who got learning model SSCS was better than students who got conventional learning and students' attitudes were positive.
