Abstract
Individu cerebral palsy yang mengalami kekakuan pada otot bicara mengalami kesulitan saat berkomunikasi, hal tersebut mengakibatkan kurang efektifnya komunikasi yang terjadi. Aplikasi say it adalah aplikasi android untuk mengenali pengucapan dari penyandang cerebral palsy yang mengalami kesulitan dalam berkomunikasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed method research design, dengan desain penelitian exploratory mixed method research design. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang dan membuat alat bantu berupa aplikasi yang dapat mengembangkan komunikasi verbal cerebral palsy. Hasil analisis data menunjukan adanya peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi verbal subjek setelah menggunakan aplikasi say it, kecenderungan pengulangan dalam mengucapkan kata berkurang yang semula tiga sampai lima kali menjadi satu kali. Kesesuaian aplikasi yang dirancang dan dibuat dengan kebutuhan subjek dapat membantu mengembangkan komunikasi verbal subjek.;Individuals with cerebral palsy, having masticatory muscles stiffness, are struggling with verbal communication with the interlocuters; this problem then resulting in ineffective communication. This study aims at designing and producing a device which is similar to Say It Application that can assist the individuals with verbal communication development. Say it is a pronunciation tool that can be created and used by the subject of this study. The subject is a person with cerebral palsy and experiencing masticatory muscles stiffness. Observation, interview, and documentation are used to collect the data related to the objective condition when the subject is communicating verbally. Data analysis show a significant result when the subject uses Say It; the word repetition reduction are noticeable. Before using Say It, the subject has made three to five-word repetition. On the other hand, the subject only makes one-word repetition after using Say It. The application compatibility with the subject’s needs will help them develop their verbal communication skills.
