Abstract

Keterampilan berbicara merupakan salah satu aspek keterampilan berbahasa yang memegang peranan penting dalam sebuah kegiatan pembelajaran. Keterampilan berbicara dapat mempermudah komunikasi antara guru dan siswa dalam mencapai tujuan belajar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan peningkatan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas II Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa dalam menceritakan kembali cerita yang telah didengarnya. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan desain penelitian Stephen Kemmis & Mc Taggart. Penelitian ini dilaksankan dalam dua siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Pelaksanaan penelitian ini berlangsung di salah satu sekolah dasar, di Kota Bandung. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 27 siswa dengan rincian 12 siswa laki-laki dan 15 siswa perempuan. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah lembar observasi aktivitas pembelajaran dan instrumen keterampilan berbicara yang dikembangkan dari penelitian sebelumnya dan didasarkan pada kajian teori yang dirujuk. Keterampilan berbicara siswa mengalami peningkatan pada tiap siklusnya. Pada siklus I, terdapat 15 siswa yang keterampilan bebrbicaranya dinyatakan tuntas dan pada siklus II siswa yang tuntas bertambah menjadi 23 siswa. Hal ini dikarenakan capaian skor tiap indikator berbicara siswa meningkat setelah diterapkannya metode storytelling berbantuan puppet show. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode storytelling berbantuan puppet show mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa kelas II Sekolah Dasar. Kata Kunci: Metode Storytelling, Media Puppet Show, Keterampilan Berbicara ------- Speaking skills are one aspect of language skills that play an important role in a learning activity. Speaking skills can facilitate communication between teacher and students in achieving learning goals. The purpose of this study is to describe the planning, implementation, and improvement of speaking skills of Grade II Elementary School students. This research is motivated by the lack of students' speaking skills in retelling stories they have heard. The research method used was the classroom action research (CAR) method with the research design of Stephen Kemmis & Mc Taggart. This research was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The implementation of this research took place in one elementary school, in the city of Bandung. The Research subjects were class II B students, amounting to 27 students with details of 12 male students and 15 female students. The research instrument used was an observation sheet of learning activities and a speaking skills instrument developed from previous research and based on the study of the theory referenced. Students' speaking skills have increased in each cycle. In cycle I, there were 15 students whose speaking skills were declared to be complete and in cycle II the complete students increased to 23 students. This is because the achievement score of each student's speaking indicator increases after the puppet show assisted storytelling method. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the storytelling method assisted by puppet shows is able to improve the speaking skills of grade II elementary school students.
