    Abstract

    Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai peningkatan dan pencapaian kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model IDEAL Problem Solving dengan siswa yang memperoleh model Direct Instruction, serta untuk mengetahui respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran menggunakan model IDEAL Problem Solving. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan desain penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 33 siswa kelas VIII I dan 31 siswa kelas VIII J SMP Negeri 1 Pangalengan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Peningkatan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model IDEAL Problem Solving pada materi volume bangun ruang sisi datar lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh model Direct Instruction; 2) Pencapaian kemampuan representasi matematis siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan model IDEAL Problem Solving pada volume bangun ruang sisi datar lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang memperoleh model Direct Instruction; 3) Respons siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan menggunakan model IDEAL Problem Solving untuk meningkatkan kemampuan representasi matematis tergolong positif.

    The aims of this research are to obtain an overview of the enhancement and attainment of mathematical representation abilities of students who obtain learning by using IDEAL Problem Solving model with students who obtain direct instruction, and to know students responses toward the implementation of IDEAL Problem Solving model. The method use in this research is quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects in this research were 33 students of class VIII I and 31 students of class VIII J in Junior High School state 1 Pangalengan. The results showed: 1) The enhancement of student’s mathematical representation abilities that obtain learning by using IDEAL Problem Solving model on the material volume of flat space is higher than student who obtain Direct Instruction model; 2) The attainment of student’s mathematical representation abilities that obtain learning by using IDEAL Problem Solving model on the material volume of flat space is higher than student who obtain Direct Instruction model; 3) Student’s responses to mathematics learning using IDEAL Problem Solving model to increasemathematical representation ability are classified as positive.
