Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan studi kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest-posttest comparison group. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji: (1) Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif; (2) Peningkatan self-esteem; (3) Kondisi self-esteem siswa setelah mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan metode Discovery Learning (DL) dan Design Action (DA). Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa sekolah dasar kelas V yang telah menerapkan Kurikulum 2013 secara penuh di Kabupaten Bandung, Jawa Barat. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling dan diperoleh dua kelas eksperimen. Pada kelas eksperimen I siswa mendapat metode pembelajaran DL dan kelas eksperimen II siswa mendapat metode pembelajaran DA. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengkaji peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan self-esteem siswa serta kondisi self-esteem siswa setelah kedua metode DL dan DA diimplementasikan. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif, angket self-esteem, lembar observasi, dan pedoman wawancara siswa. Data dianalisis dengan uji-t. Analisis data, diperoleh temuan: (1) Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif yang signifikan antara siswa yang mendapatkan metode pembelajaran DL dan metode pembelajaran DA, rata-rata hasil peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa kelas DA lebih baik dari siswa kelas DL; (2) Terdapat perbedaan peningkatan self-esteem yang signifikan antara siswa yang mendapatkan metode pembelajaran DL dan metode pembelajaran DA, rata-rata peningkatan self-esteemi siswa kelas DA lebih baik daripada siswa kelas DL; (3) Kondisi self-esteem siswa yang memperoleh metode pembelajaran DL dan metode pembelajaran DA menunjukkan peningkatan ke arah yang lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, metode pembelajaran DL dan metode pembelajaran DA dapat menjadi alternatif pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan self-esteem siswa sekolah dasar. Kata kunci: Design Action, Discovery Learning, Kemampuan berpikir kreatif, Self-esteem.   ------ This study is a quasi-experimental study with pretest-posttest comparison group design. This study aims to examine: (1) The students’ enhancement in logical thinking ability; (2) The students’ enhancement in self-esteem; (3) The status of students’ self-esteem after Discovery Learning (DL) and Design Action (DA) learning method are implemented. The population in this study is grade five primary school students in Bandung, West Java. Research sample was selected using purposive sampling technique from which two experimental groups were obtained. In the 1st experimental group, students work under cooperative learning method where DL was used while the students in second experimental group work under DA learning method. This research was conducted to investigate the enhancement of students’ creative thinking ability and their self-esteem as well as the status of students’ self-esteem after DL and DA learning were implemented. The instruments used in this study were creative thinking ability test, self-esteem questionnaire, observation sheet, and student interview. The data were analyzed using t-test. From the result of data analysis, it is found that: (1) There is a significant difference of enhancement in creative thinking ability between the students who work under DL and DA learning method (the average result of the enhancement of students’ creative thinking ability of DA group is better than those of DL group); (2) There is a significant difference of self-esteem enhancement between students who work under DL and DA learning method (the average enhancement of students’ self-esteem of DA group is better than the students of DL group); (3) The status of students’ self-esteem who work under the DL and the DA learning method show enhancement in a better direction. Therefore, Discovery Learning (DL) and Design Action (DA) learning methods can be alternatives of learning method to improve student’ creative thinking and self-esteem.
