Abstract

Penelitian tentang kesadaran morfologis anak-anak usia 5-6 tahun di Indonesia relatif sedikit, terlebih lagi mengenai Bahasa Indonesia ragam formal dan informal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui kemampuan anak-anak 5-6 tahun dalam mengidentifikasi dan memproduksi morfem Bahasa Indonesia ragam formal dan informal pada tingkat afiksasi verba, serta mendeskripsikan karakteristik siswa yang menunjukkan kinerja unjuk kerja yang tinggi dan rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dalam pengumpulan dan analisis data, dan bersifat eksploratori karena penelitian kesadaran morfologis Bahasa Indonesia ragam formal dan informal belum pernah dilakukan. Subjek penelitian adalah 42 siswa Taman Kanak-Kanak. Sebagian siswa diajari baca tulis secara implisit dan sebagian lain secara eksplisit. Data dikumpulkan dengan instrumen unjuk kerja identifikasi dan produksi, serta kuesioner, dan wawancara untuk para orang tua siswa yang mendapatkan skor tinggi dan rendah dalam unjuk kerja. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan anak-anak dalam hal identifikasi relatif rendah (jawaban benar 58,21%). Persentase produksi ragam informal (66,07%) lebih besar daripada persentase produksi ragam formal (23,21%). Rata-rata skor unjuk kerja ragam informal lebih tinggi secara signifikan daripada ragam formal baik pada unjuk kerja identifikasi maupun produksi. Tetapi tidak ada perbedaan signifikan diantara skor anak-anak yang mendapatkan pengajaran baca tulis secara ekplisit dan implisit. Para siswa dengan kinerja unjuk kerja tinggi memiliki karakteristik (a) dominan merupakan pengguna Bahasa Indonesia dan dwibahasa (Bahasa Indonesia dan Bahasa Daerah) dan lebih banyak dikelilingi oleh pengguna Bahasa Indonesia dan dwibahasa, (b) cenderung lebih banyak melakukan kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan literasi seperti membaca/dibacakan, bernyanyi, menonton video edukatif, dan bermain permainan edukatif, dan (c) cenderung lebih sering mendapatkan kegiatan bahasa yang ditujukan kepada mereka dari orang tua. ..... Studies on morphological awareness of 5-6 year old children in Indonesia are relatively scarce, especially on formal and informal varieties of Bahasa Indonesia. This research aims to describe 5-6 year-old children’s ability in identifying and producing morphemes in the formal and informal varieties of Bahasa Indonesia on verb affix level, and to describe the characteristics of high- and low-performing students in the tasks. This research uses quantitative descriptive method, and it is also exploratory in nature, since the assessment of morphological awareness of formal and informal varieties of Bahasa Indonesia has not been conducted. The research subjects were 42 kindergarten students. Some of the students were taught reading and writing explicitly and some of them were not. The data were collected by using student tasks, questionnaire, and interview. Analysis results indicates that the children’s ablity in the identification task was relatively low (correct anwers 58.21%). In the production task, the percentage of the informal variety (66.07%) was larger than of the formal variety (23.21%). The score mean of informal variety was significantly higher than the formal variety in both identification and production tasks. However there was no difference between the group of children who were taught reading explicitly and implicitly. Regarding the characteristics, high-performing students (a) were mainly speakers of Bahasa Indonesia and bilinguals (Bahasa Indonesia and local language) and were surrounded by people who are speakers of Bahasa Indonesia and bilinguals, (b) tend to do more literary related activities such as reading/being read to, singing, watching educational videos, and playing educational games, and (c) tend to have more language related activities directed to them from their parents.
