Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa kelas I SD yang ditemukan dalam pembelajaran. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan pembelajaran matematika realistik (PMR) dengan prinsip fenomena didaktik, penemuan terbimbing dan pengembangan model mandiri untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan PMR untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa 2) proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan menerapkan PMR untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa; 3) peningkatan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa setelah menerapkan PMR. Subjek peneltian berjumlah 24 siswa salah satu SD Negeri Kota Bandung. Peneliti menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas model Kemmis & Taggart yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah observasi dan tes. Instrumen pengumpulan data yakni lembar observasi dan lembar evaluasi. Pengolahan data dilakukan melalui: 1) analisis kualitatif yakni reduksi, klasifikasi, penyajian dan refleksi data serta penarikan kesimpulan dan 2) analisis kuantitatif yakni skoring, menghitung rata-rata, persentase, interpretasi dan kesimpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persentase keberhasilan pada siklus I ialah 67% dan meningkat menjadi 83,3% pada siklus II. Berdasarkan data tersebut maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan PMR dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa kelas I SD. Kata kunci: pendekatan matematika realistik, pemahaman konsep matematis This research is motivated by the lack of understanding students’ mathematical concepts in the first grade elementary school clasroom. Researcher uses realistic mathematics education (RME) approach with principles didactical phenomenology, guided reinvention and self develope models to solved that issue. This research aims to decribed: 1) the lesson plan 2) action process by appliying RME approach to improve understanding students’ mathematical concepts, 3) the result of improving understanding students’ mathematical concepts by applying RME approach. Participans on this research amount 24 students of C elementary school, Bandung. Researcher used classrom action research Kemmis & Taggarts’ model; planning, action, observation and recflection in two cycle. Data collection used in this research are obervation and test. Instrument data are observation sheets and student’s work sheet. Data processing is through: 1) qualitative analysis that’s reduction, classification, display and reflection data, also conlusion, 2) quantitative that’s scoring, calculate aerage, percentage, interretation and conlusion. Research result showed that classical completeness in cycle one is 67% and 83,3% on cycle two. Based on these results it can be concluded that the application of realistic mathematics approach can improve the understanding of mathematical concepts as elementary school students.
