Abstract

Based on the results of observations that have been made, it is known that students of class IV C in one of the Bandung City Elementary Schools have difficulty understanding a concept of learning material, especially on Social Studies subjects. The solution this problem is by using Mind Mapping learning methods. The purpose of this study is to decribe the application of Mind Mapping methods in Social Studies learning in order to improve the understanding of social studies concepts in grade IV students in Elementary School. This research is classroom action research, with the research subject being students of class IV C in one of the Bandung State Elementary Schools, amounting to 20 students. Data collection techniques using observation sheets of teacher and student activities, field notes, student evaluation sheets, and documentation. The results showed that in the firs cycle the average percentage of understanding of the Social Studies concept of class IV C students reached 78%, and in the second cycle reached 96%. It can be concluded that the application of the Mind Mapping method is able to improve the understanding of the concepts of class IV, especially on social studies subjects.
