Abstract

Menyelesaikan masalah matematika biasanya berkaitan dengan soal cerita. Namun,
dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematika masih dianggap sulit bagi siswa.
Kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita masih tergolong rendah. Tujuan
penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan
masalah berbentuk soal cerita, kekeliruan apa yang terjadi, dan faktor penyebab
kekeliruan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematis berbentuk soal cerita.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian studi kasus. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah
29 siswa kelas VIII. Analisis data penelitian ini berdasarkan hasil jawaban siswa
pada tes tertulis, wawancara, dan observasi lapangan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan
bahwa kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita masih rendah pada tahap
reading, comprehension, transformation, process skill, dan encoding. Kekeliruan
yang muncul dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita matematis, yaitu miskonsepsi dalam
memahami makna kata kunci pada soal dan mengidentifikasi unsur lain, kesalahan
menentukan hal yang diketahui, tidak menuliskan hal yang ditanyakan dan proses
perhitungan, miskonsepsi memilih prosedur, tidak menuliskan hasil akhir sesuai
dengan kesimpulan yang dimaksud soal, miskonsepsi terhadap proses perkalian,
miskonsepsi terhadap ukuran objek pada bangun ruang dan mengklasifikasikan alas
pada prisma. Faktor penyebab kekeliruan dikarenakan kurang pengetahuan tentang
kata kunci, tidak terbiasa menuliskan hal yang diketahui, ditanya, dan
mengidentifikasi unsur lain, kurang memahami masalah, kurang pengalaman dalam
membuat model matematika, kurang menguasai konsep, tidak melakukan
pengecekan kembali, kesalahan dalam memahami prakonsep. Dalam penelitian ini
diharapkan untuk penelitian selanjutnya dapat meminimalisir kekeliruan siswa dalam
menyelesaikan masalah matematis berbentuk soal cerita.;--- Solving mathematic problems is usually related to the word problem. However,
solving mathematical word problems are still considered as a difficult matter for the
students. Students' ability to solving mathematical word problems is still low. This
study aims to analyze the level of problem solving skill in mathematical word
problems, the errors that occured, and the factors causing student’s error in solving
mathematical word problems. The type used in this study was case study research.
The subjects were 29 grade 8 students. The data analysis focused on the results of
students answers on written test, interview, and observation. The results show that
the level of students’ problem solving skill is low on reading, comprehension,
transformation, process skill, and encoding. The errors in solving mathematical word
problems are misunderstanding the meaning of the keyword in the matter,
identifying other elements, wrong write down the known, not write down the
questioned, not knowing the mathematical model, not knowing the procedure used,
not writing the final result according to the conclusions concerned about,
misconceptions of multiplication processes, misconceptions of object size in three
dimentional shape and misconceptions in classifying the base on the prism. Causes
of error due to lack of knowledge about keywords, not familiar with writing down
what is known, questioned and identifying other elements, not understanding the
problems, lacking experience in making mathematical models, not understanding the
concepts, not checking back, mistakes in understanding preconceptions, and lack of
teacher's emphasis on the concept of the base on the prism during the learning
process. It is expected that will be other research that can be minimize students’ error
in solving mathematical word problems.
