Abstract
Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V sekolah dasar. Pembelajarannya hanya menggunakan metode ceramah dan penugasan tanpa melibatkan siswa secara langsung dalam kegiatan membaca. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perencanaan, proses dan peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan menggunakan metode PQRST. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan mengadaptasi model dari Kemmis & Taggart yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V di salah satu SD Negeri di Kota Bandung tahun ajaran 2017/2018 dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 30 orang, terdiri dari 11 orang siswa laki-laki dan 19 orang siswa perempuan dengan karakteristik dan kemampuan yang berbeda-beda. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan menerapkan tahapan-tahapan metode PQRST, yaitu 1) Preview, 2) Question, 3) Read, 4) Summarize, dan 5) Test. Indikator membaca pemahaman dalam penelitian ini adalah menentukan ide pokok, membuat pertanyaan, menjawab pertanyaan, dan membuat kesimpulan. Data hasil penelitian menunjukkan penerapan metode PQRST dari siklus I ke siklus II mengalami peningkatan. Pada siklus I ketuntasan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa sebesar 56.66% dan meningkat menjadi 86.66% pada siklus II. Simpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu penerapan metode PQRST dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa kelas V sekolah dasar.;--The background of this research is the low reading comprehension ability of the 5th grade students of elementary school. The learning only used lectoring method and assignment without directly involving students in reading activities. The purpose of this research is to describe the planning, process, and improvement of reading comprehension skills by using PQRST method. The research method used is Classroom Action Research method by adapting the model of Kemmis and Taggart which is implemented in two cycles. The subject of this research is the 5th grade students in one of the Elementary Schools in Bandung City, Academic Year 2017/2018 with the number of students as many as 30 people, consisting of 11 male students and 19 female students with different characteristics and abilities. This research is carried out by applying the steps of the PQRST method, i.e. 1) preview, 2) question, 3) read, 4) summarize, and 5) test. The indicators of reading comprehension in this study is to determine the main idea, make question, answer question, and make conclusions. The result showed that the application of PQRST method from cycle I to cycle II has increased. In cycle I, the average of reading comprehension ability of students aqual to 56.66% and increased to 86.66%. in cycle II. The conclusion of this research is the application of PQRST method can improve reading comprehension ability of 5th grade students of Elementary School.
