Abstract

Alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah yang berfokus pada kemampuan berpikir kritis masih terbatas dikembangkan guru. Pedoman evaluasi yang digunakan umumnya hanya berupa buku kumpulan soal persiapan ujian. Evaluasi yang menuntut pemikiran tingkat tinggi dikhawatirkan membuat siswa tidak mencapai nilai KKM. Sementara itu, hasil penilaian internasional dalam bidang membaca, seperti PISA dan PIRLS menunjukkan bahwa skor kompetensi membaca siswa Indonesia untuk memperoleh informasi pada teks ragam ilmiah lebih rendah daripada membaca sastra. Kemampuan siswa dalam menginterpretasikan, mengintegrasikan, dan mengevaluasi teks ragam ilmiah perlu ditingkatkan. Hasil penilaian tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan oleh guru sebagai salah satu acuan dalam mengembangkan alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah yang berbasis kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Hal ini bertujuan agar kelemahan siswa dalam aspek membaca tertentu dapat diatasi. Pengembangan alat evaluasi ini dikembangkan dengan model KSAVE yang mengukur kemampuan berpikir siswa secara menyeluruh dari segi pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sikap membaca. Berdasarkan beberapa hal tersebut, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah yang valid, reliabel, dan praktis. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Dalam tulisan ini dideskripsikan profil alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah di sekolah, kebutuhan guru terkait alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah, rancangan alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah dengan model KSAVE, pengembangan alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah dengan model KSAVE, dan respons siswa terhadap alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah dengan model KSAVE. Berdasarkan hasil uji validasi ahli dan uji coba kepada siswa sebanyak tiga kali dapat disimpulkan bahwa alat evaluasi layak untuk diimplementasikan. Berdasarkan hasil implementasi, siswa memberikan respons positif terhadap produk alat evaluasi membaca teks ragam ilmiah dengan model KSAVE.-- The evaluation tool of reading scientific text that focuses on the critical thinking ability is still limited developed by teachers. The evaluation guidelines used are generally only in the form of exam preparation books. It is concerned that the evaluation demanding high-level thinking could not make students achieve the minimum standard score. Meanwhile, the result of international assessment in reading such as PISA and PIRLS, it is showed that Indonesian students’ reading competence score in obtaining information of scientific texts is lower than reading literature. Students’ abilities in interpreting, integrating, and evaluating scientific tools need to be improved. The result of the evaluation can be used by teachers as a feedback to reflect and improve the quality of learning, especially in terms of evaluation. Moreover, evaluation tool for reading scientific text that focuses on critical thinking skills is still limitedly used by teachers. The development of this evaluation tool was developed by using KSAVE model that measures students’ critical thinking skill comprehensively in terms of knowledge, skills, and reading attitudes. Therefore, the aim of the study was to develop a valid, reliable, and practical evaluation tool for reading scientific texts. The study employed research and development method. The paper includes profile of evaluation tool for reading scientific text used in schools, the teachers’ need regarding the evaluation tool for reading scientific text, the design of the evaluation tool by using KSAVE model, development of the scientific text reading evaluation tool by using KSAVE model, and students’ response on the evaluation tool. Based on the result of validation test by expert and students’ try-out test for three times, it can be concluded that the evaluation tool is feasible to be implemented. Based on the result of the implementation, students gave positive responses to the evaluation tool for reading scientific text by using KSAVE model.
