Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan: 1) proses pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas III sekolah dasar, dan 2) peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas III sekolah dasar dengan menerapkan pendekatan Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan model penelitian yang dikembangkan oleh Kemmis dan Taggart. Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dilihat dari masih banyak siswa yang tidak dapat menuliskan bahasa atau simbol matematika yang sesuai dan tidak dapat menyampaikan ide matematika. Hal ini disebabkan karena siswa hanya mengomunikasikan penyelesaian masalah atau ide matematika mengikuti prosedur rutin yang diberikan Guru, pembelajaran konvensional, dan kurangnya aktivitas siswa dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian dilaksanakan di salah satu SDN di Kecamatan Sukasari, Kota Bandung. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas III-A SDN A Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 sejumlah 28 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa dari siklus I dengan persentase 57% dan rata-rata nilai 66,6 menjadi persentase ketuntasan kelas sebesar 93% dan rata-rata nilai 89,8 pada siklus II. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan RME dapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis siswa kelas III A SDN A Kecamatan Sukasari, Kota Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019. ------ The purpose of this study is to describe: 1) the learning process by applying Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach to improve the mathematical communication skills of third grade students in elementary schools, and 2) an enhancement of mathematical communication skills of third grade students in elemtary school by applying Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. This study uses a classroom action research method with a model developed by Kemmis and Taggart. This research is motivated by the less skill of mathematical communication that seen from the facts there are still many students who cannot write the appropriate language or mathematical symbols and cannot convey mathematical ideas. It is caused students only communicate their problem solving and mathematical ideas following the basic prosedur given by teacher, conventional learning, and a lack of students activity on learning process. The research was applied in one of the public elementary schools in Sukasari District, Bandung City. The subject of this study was 3rd grader of class-A students of SDN A Bandung City Academic Year 2018/2019 with a total of 28 students. The result showed that there was an increase in students’ mathematical communication skills from the first cycle with a percentage of 57% and average of value 66,6 to the percentage of class completeness of 93% and average of value 89,8 in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that the RME approach can improve the mathematical communication skills of 3rd grader of class A SDN A Sukasarin District, Bandung City Academic Year 2018/2019.
