Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kesulitan siswa dalam menulis teks editorial. Hal ini disebabkan oleh adanya kesulitan siswa dalam menginterpretasikan ide dan pengetahuannya ke dalam bentuk tulisan. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mengujicobakan metode CIRC (cooperative integrated reading and composition) untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pengaruh penggunaan metode CIRC (ooperative integrated reading and composition) terhadap pembelajaran menulis teks editorial. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap dua subjek, yakni kelas eksperimen dan kelas pembanding. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan adalah metode eksperimen kuasi dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Adapun alat ukur keberhasilan yang digunakan adalah teks editorial yang ditulis siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh data bahwa terdapat kenaikan nilai rata-rata kemampuan menulis teks editorial siswa. Tes awal menunjukkan nilai 73,75 sementara tes akhir menunjukkan nilai 80,3. Melalui uji hipotesis diketahui bahwa adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menulis teks editorial kelas eksperimen dan kelas pembanding setelah diberikan perlakuan. Data tersebut menunjukkan harga thitung lebih besar dibandingkan dengan harga ttabel atau 27,5 > 1,979. Maka dari itu, dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode CIRC (Cooperative integrated reading and composition) efektif dalam pembelajaran menulis teks editorial. Kata kunci: menulis, teks editorial, cooperative integrated and reading composition This research is begun by the difficulties of 12th students in writing editorial text, especially on how them interpret and developing their ideas and knowledge into the text. So by that, researcher tries CIRC (Cooperative integrated reading and composition) method for surprassing the problems. Major purpose of this research is to know the effect of CIRC (Cooperative integrated reading and composition) method implementing in editorial text writing class at the 12th. The research method is quasi experiment with quantitative approach. Research phases that should be done are pretest, intervention, and posttest. This study was conducted on two subject, the experiment class and control class. The measures instrument of success of this research is editorial text that has been written by student. Research outcome shows that mean score of experiment class increase from 73,75 on pratest to 80,3 on posttest after getting intervention. Through the hypothesis test result is to know that there is a significant difference between the editorial text writing ability of the experiment class and the control class after getting intervention. Hypothesis test result shows that tarithmetic > ttabel that is 27,5 > 1,979. So by that, this research can summarize that CIRC (Cooperative integrated reading and composition) method is effective to be used in editorial text writing class.
