Abstract

Penelitian mengenai penerapan pendekatan problem solving terhadap penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah siswa, didasari atas kurang terbiasanya siswa terhadap soal yang menuntut berpikir tinggi serta sulitnya siswa memahami konsep materi mengenai materi sistem pernapasan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di salah satu sekolah menengah atas (SMA) Kabupaten Bandung dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pendekatan problem solving terhadap penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah siswa. Penelitian menggunakan metode weak experimental dengan menggunakan one group pretest dan postest design. Sampel penelitian menggunakan 1 kelas XI dipilih secara purposive sampling sebagai kelas eksperimen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan pendekatan problem solving memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah siswa. Peningkatan penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah yang dapat terlihat nilai rata–rata indeks gain keseluruhan. Peningkatan penguasaan konsep siswa adalah 0,33 yang termasuk kedalam kategori sedang, sedangkan peningkatan kemapuan memecahkan masalah siswa adalah 0,52 yang termasuk kedalam kategori sedang. Begitupun pada setiap aspek kognitif dan pemecahan masalah mengalami peningkatan yang dilihat dari hasil perhitungan rata-rata tiap aspek yang diamati. Adapun hubungan penguasaan dengan kemampuan memecahkan masalah dengan nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,403 yang menunjukan hubungan sedang. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan pendekatan problem solving dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan memecahkan masalah siswa SMA pada materi sistem pernapasan serta terdapat hubungan antara penguasaan konsep dengan kemampuan memecahkan masalah.;--The research on the application of problem solving approach to the mastery of concepts and problem solving skills of students, based on the unaccustomed students to the problem of demanding high thinking and the difficulty of students understand the material concept of the material of the respiratory system. This research was conducted in one of high school (SMA) in District of Bandung with the aim to analyze the effect of problem solving approach to mastery of concepts and ability to solve student problems. The research uses weak experimental method using one group pretest and posttest design. The sample of research using 1 class XI that was chosen by purposive sampling as experiment class. The results showed that learning with problem solving approach gave a significant influence on mastery of concepts and ability to solve student problems. Improved mastery of concepts and the ability to solve problems that can see the average value of the overall gain index. Increased mastery of the concept of students is 0,33 are included in the medium category, while the increase in ability to solve student problems is 0,52, which are included in the medium category. Likewise on every aspect of cognitive and problem solving has increased seen from the calculation of the average of each observed aspect. The relationship of mastery with problem-solving ability with the correlation coefficient value of 0,403 indicating a moderate relationship. The conclusion of this research is application of problem solving approaches can improve mastery of concepts and the ability to solve problems of high school student on material of respiration system and there is a relationship between mastery of concepts with problem solving skills.
