Abstract

Astronot sudah banyak dikenali masyarakat. Sering kita jumpai di berbagai media informasi seperti televisi, internet, media sosial mengenai Astronot itu sendiri. Ketika kita mengenyam pendidikan mungkin kita pernah diajarkan mengenai Astronot oleh guru. Astronot adalah profesi yang menjalankan tugas dan misinya di luar angkasa. Tugasnya yang terlihat menyenangkan berada di luar angkasa, ternyata tidak seperti yang kita pikirkan. Astronot juga merupakan profesi yang membahayakan bahkan bisa mengorbankan nyawa. Namun Astronot memiliki ciri khas yang dapat mudah dikenal orang yaitu dengan kostumnya yang menarik untuk dibahas dan diaplikasikan ke dalam sebuah karya seni patung. Seiring perkembangan seni patung belakangan ini yang mulai muncul dengan gebrakan baru baik secara fungsi, teknis maupun tematis, seni patung dapat ikut andil sebagai media ekspresi untuk angkat bicara mengenai figur Astronot. Penggunaan material seperti styrofoam dan dempul pada patung memiliki beberapa kelebihan yaitu ringan dan tahan lama. Untuk mempermudah penulisan, penulis merumuskan masalah penciptaan: Bagaimana mengolah styrofoam dan dempul menjadi karya seni patung? bagaimana visualisasi karya seni patung Astronot bergaya Surealis? Apa makna simbolik patung Astronot ? Pada prosesnya styrofoam dibentuk menjadi sebuah model yang penulis inginkan, kemudian dilapisi dempul sebagai pelapis luar. Visualisasi patung berupa deformasi dari figur Astronot di gabungkan dengan benda yang akrab dengan profesi Astronot itu sendiri seperti roket, dan satelit menjadi sebuah bentuk figur yang imajinatif. Karya patung yang dibuat berjumlah tiga buah dengan ukuran dan gestur yang berbeda. Ketiga karya tersebut mengangkat figur Astronot yang berupa patung Surealis. Penciptaan karya seni patung bertujuan sebagai pengekspresian idealis penulis mengenai figur Astronot dan sebagai media informasi mengenai Astronot.----------Astronauts have been widely recognized by the public. Often we meet in various information media such as television, internet, social media about Astronaut itself. When we go to education we may have been taught about the Astronaut by the teacher. Astronauts are professions that carry out their duties and missions out of space. His fun-looking tasks in space are not what we think. Astronauts are also a dangerous profession that can even sacrifice lives. However, Astronauts have a distinctive characteristic that is easily recognizable to people whose costumes are interesting to discuss and apply into a work of sculpture. Along with the development of sculpture lately which began to emerge with a new breakthrough both functionally, technically and thematically, presumably sculpture can take part as a medium of expression to speak out about the figure of Astronaut. The use of materials such as styrofoam and putty on the statue has some advantages that is light and durable. To simplify the writing, the authors formulate the problem of creation: How to process styrofoam and putty into sculpture artwork? How to visualize the works of Astronaut statue in Surreal style? What is the symbolic meaning of an Astronaut statue? In the process styrofoam formed into a model that the author wants, then coated putty as an outer coating. The sculpture visualization of the deformation of the Astronaut figure is combined with objects close to the astronaut's own profession such as rockets and satellites into an imaginative figure. Sculptures made amounted to three pieces with different sizes and gestures. The three works raised the figure of Astronaut in the form of Surealis statue. The creation of sculpture works as an idealistic expression of the author on Astronaut figures and as a medium of information on Astronauts.
