Abstract

Kesadaran sintaksis mengacu pada kemampuan anak dalam mengidentifikasi dan mengoreksi struktur kalimat. Di Indonesia, penelitian mengenai kesadaran sintaksis cukup sedikit (Komara, 2016). Salah satu penelitian sebelumnya menunjukan bahwa anak-anak di Indonesia umur 5 tahun lebih mudah menggunakan bentuk kalimat pasif dibandingkan dengan bentuk kalimat aktif (Dardjowijojo, 2005). Maka, penelitian ini menguji kesadaran sintaksis anak usia 5-6 tahun pada konteks Indonesia. Lebih spesifiknya, tujuan penelitian ini adalah menginvestigasi anak dalam mengidentifikasi dan mengorekso bentuk kalimat aktif dan pasif dan mendeskripsikan karakteristik anak dengan nilai tertinggi dan terendah dalam tes. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif. Data di kumpulkan melalui tiga cara:1) tes, 2) kueosioner, dan 3) interview. Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa anak-anak dapat mengidentifikasi dan mengoreksikan kalimat aktif (76.69 %) dan kalimat pasif (67.16%). Untuk mendeskripsikan analisis kuantitatif, penelitian ini fokus pada murid dengan nilai tertinggi dan terendah untuk menunjukan karakteristik data. Penelitian ini memberitahu bahwa anak-anak memiliki kapasitas dalam mempelajari linguistic. Maka, hasil dari penelitian ini dapat dipertimbangkan sebagai kasus dalam pembelajaran literasi selanjutnya. Berdasarkan aspek sosial, terdapat tiga aspek sosial utama yang mengkarakteristikan murid nilai tertinggi dan terendah; latar belakang pendidikan orangtua, kegiatan anak-anak, dan jumlah ucapan yang dikerahkan pada anak. -----Syntactic awareness refers to the ability of children in identifying and correcting sentence structure. In Indonesia, study in syntactic awareness is relatively small (Komara, 2016). One of previous study reported that Indonesian children aged 5 find passive sentence forms are easier than active sentence forms (Dardjowijojo, 2005). Therefore, this study seeks to examine syntactic awareness of children aged 5-6 in Indonesian context. More specifically, the aims of the study are to investigate children in identifying and correcting active and passive sentences and then describing the characteristics of high and low performing students. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach to data collection and analysis. The data were collected in three ways: 1) Assessment tests, 2) Questionnaire, and 3) Interview. The analysis reveals that the children could identify and correct active sentences (76.69%) and passive sentences (67.16%). In describing the quantitative analysis, this study focuses on the high and low performing students in revealing the characteristics of the data. This study suggests that children have their capacity to engage in learning linguistic. Therefore, the result of this study could be considered to be the cases for further literacy learning. Based on the social aspects, there are three main social aspects that characterize high and low performing students; parents’ education background, children activity, and the quantity of child-directed speech.
