Abstract
Penelitian ini bertitik tolak dari adanya permasalahan yang mengakibatkan keterlambatan dalam menyelesaikan perkuliahan. Kemampuan seseorang dalam menghadapi dan menangani kesulitan berbeda-beda sehingga ada mahasiswa yang gagal dan sukses. Kemampuan menghadapi kesulitan disebut dengan kecerdasan adversitas. Penelitian bertujuan mengidentifikasi perbedaan kecerdasan adversitas mahasiswa sekolah Pascasarjana Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia berdasarkan faktor demografi. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini mahasiswa sekolah Pascasarjana Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia angkatan 2016 sebanyak 457 orang. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan kuantitatif, metode survei dan desain cross-sectional. Instrument penelitian digunakan angket kecerdasan adversitas berdasarkan teori Stotz (2004) dengan validitas 0,82 dan relibilitas item 0,99 (sangat baik). Analisis data digunakan statistika ANOVA. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan: (1) kecerdasan advesitas berada pada kriteria campers (2) kecerdasan adversitas berbeda berdasarkan jenis kelamin dan daerah asal, mahasiswa laki-laki lebih tinggi kecerdasan adversitasnya dibandingkan mahasiswa perempuan dan mahasiswa yang berasal dari luar Jawa memiliki kecerdasan adversitas lebih tinggi dibandingkan mahasiswa Jawa. Rekomendasi dari hasil penelitian ditujukan untuk dosen pembimbing akademik dan peneliti selanjutnya.---The research departs from the problems that cause delays among graduate students in completing their study. An individual’s ability to deal with and overcome difficulties varies; hence, some students fail and some others succeed in their study. The ability to deal with adversity is called adversity intelligence. The research aims to identify differences in the adversity intelligence of UPI graduate students based on demographic factors. The participants included as many as 457 UPI graduate students batch 2016. The research employed the quantitative approach, survey method, and cross-sectional design. The instrument used was an adversity intelligence questionnaire drawing upon Stotz’s (2004) theory with a validity of 0.82 and item reliability of 0.99 (very good). Data were analyzed with ANOVA. The results of this research show: (1) Adversity intelligence of the students was under the camper category; (2) adversity intelligence was different depending on sex and area of origin, in which male students had higher adversity intelligence than female students, and students from outside Java had higher adversity intelligence compared to Javanese students. Recommendations drawn from the research results are addressed to academic advisors and future researchers.
