Abstract

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh kasus yang terjadi mengenai pengasuhan anak usia dini oleh kakek dan neneknya yang disebabkan karena keluarga yang sudah tidak utuh. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu mengetahui dinamika pengasuhan kakek dan nenek dalam pengembangkan karakter anak usia dini dan karakter anak yang berkembang akibat dari pengasuhan tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Tehnik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara, dan observasi, dengan subjek penelitian 3 orang kakek dan 3 orang nenek serta 3 orang anak yang diasuh oleh keduanya. Data divalidasi dengan menggunakan dua tehnik yaitu membercheck dan reflektivitas.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) pengasuhan yang dilakukan kakek dan nenek merupakan gaya pengasuhan permisif atau memanjakan yang diakui terjadi secara naluriah, (2) sejak bayi anak sudah bersama dengan kakek dan neneknya sehingga pengasuhan kakek dan nenek penuh, (3) anak antusias bersama dengan kakek karena selalu mengajak pada aktivitas menyenangkan seperti bermain keluar, jalan-jalan atau jajan, (4) karakter negative anak yang berkembang dan menjadi kendala dalam pengasuhan meliputi manja, sering menangis, mengamuk, melempar benda, suka berteriak, penakut, pemalu, cuek, tidak mau berbagi, adaptasi yang cukup lama dan ingin dipuji, (5) semua upaya penanganan kendala tersebut terbantahkan akibat ancaman anak terlalu kuat sehingga kasih sayang dijadikan senjata oleh anak, (6) upaya penanganan yang dianggap ampuh hanya memeluk anak sampai tenang, (7) segala perbedaan pengasuhan dikomunikasikan sehingga tidak timbul pertengkaran, dan (8) karakter baik yang muncul meliputi supel, aktif, perkembangan kognitif baik, bicara baik, dan semangat bersekolah. Saran yang diberikan oleh penulis (1) orangtua tidak mengalihtangankan pengasuhan jika masih mampu untuk mengasuh, (2) kakek dan nenek perlu membuat kontrol dan tegas menerapkannya agar anak memahami benar dan salah, (3) perlu adanya kerjasama antara sekolah dan kakek nenek untuk sama-sama memahami tumbuh kembang anak, dan (4) perlu adanya pendalaman penelitian terkait karakter baik yang berkembang pada pola pengasuhan seperti ini.-----The background of this study was a case which occurs in the parenting of early childhood by grandparents that is caused by broken families. The purpose of this study was to know the dynamics and parenting of grandparents to early childhood character and children’s characters that appear as a result of that parenting. The method used in this research is a case study with the qualitative approach. The data was collected by using interviews and observation, with the participants of this research were 3 grandfathers and 3 grandmothers and 3 children who are raised by grandparents. The data was validated by using two techniques namely member check and reflectivity. The results of the research showed that (1) the parenting of grandparents is done by using permissive parenting style or pampering that happens instinctively, (2) since infants, the children are already together with their grandparents so that they get parenting from grandparents fully, (3) the children is enthusiastic with grandfathers because they always do fun activities like playing out, walking or snacking, (4) the children's negative characters that develop and become obstacles in their parenting include pampering, often crying, raging, throwing things, screaming, timid, shy, ignorant , not willing to share, long enough to do adaptation and want to be praised, (5) all efforts to handle that obstacles are refuted due to the threat of children is too strong because the children use love as a weapon, (6) The only effort that is considered effective to solve that problems by hugging the children until they are calm, 7) all differences in parenting are communicated, therefore there is no argument, and (8) the good characters that appear include the sociable, active, good cognitive development, good talk, and spirit to go to school. The suggestions given by the authors (1) the parents do not transfer parenting to other if they are still able to take care their own children, (2) the grandparents need to make a control and apply it firmly so that children will understand right and wrong, (3) there is a need to do such a kind of cooperation between school and grandparents to understand the growth and development of children, and (4) there is a need for deeper research related to the good characters that developed in this pattern of parenting.
