Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SD pada mata pelajaran matematika. Aktivitas belajar siswa yang terlihat hanya menyimak penjelasan guru dan mengerjakan latihan-latihan soal, sehingga pembelajaran bersifat verbalisme. Dalam pembelajaran matematika diperlukan ‘jembatan’ yang dapat menghubungkan perbedaan sifat matematika dengan cara berpikir siswa. ‘Jembatan” tersebut ialah dengan menerapkan model Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik Indonesia. Secara umum, tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk mendeskripsikan mengenai penerapan model pembelajaran tersebut. Sedangkan tujuan khususnya ialah untuk mendeskripsikan mengenai perencanaan, pelaksanaan, peningkatan aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa kelas IV SD dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas dengan model spiral dari Kemmis dan Teggart. Temuan pada siklus pertama ialah terlalu banyaknya materi yang disajikan, tuntutan soal yang harus dikerjakan, serta pengalaman siswa yang hanya menemukan satu pola jaring-jaring kubus dan balok membuat siswa kurang dapat memahami materi. Sehingga pada siklus pertama aktivitas siswa hanya mencapai 43,75%. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata siswa hanya mencapai 43,75. Peneliti melakukan perbaikan dengan menyederhanakan materi, memfasilitasi siswa untuk menemukan enam pola jaring-jaring kubus, menerapkan reward and punishment, menerapkan kartu kesempatan untuk bertanya, memberi saran, dan menanggapi secara tertulis serta membuat soal evaluasi yang sesuai dengan perencanaan waktu pengerjaan. Hasilnya, aktivitas belajar siswa meningkat menjadi 82,5%. Hasil belajar siswa pun meningkat terlihat dari nilai rata-rata siswa mencapai 87,26. Rekomendasi untuk guru SD, ialah agar menerapkan model Pembelajaran Matematika Realistik dalam mengajar matematika karena model ini sangat cocok dengan tahap perkembangan siswa SD. ----- This research had been conducted because of the low activities and the low grades of the elementary school students, which is in the fourth grade, in Mathematics. Students only listen to the teacher’s explanations and do the assignments, it results that Mathematics only as verbalism. In Mathematics, it needs ‘scaffolding’ to connect the borderline between mathematics' characters and students’ thinking methods. To make that ‘scaffolding’ is through the application of examination of Indonesian Realistic Mathematics. In general, the aims of the research is to describe the implementation of that model of study. The specific purposes of the research are to describe the plan, the realization, the increase of students’ activity and outcome learning the students’ study by applying that model. This research used Kemmis and Teggart’s class action research method with piral model. The result in first cycle is that there is too many material that is presented, too many assignments that must be done by the students, and the limited of students’ understanding on cube and rectangular prims. In the first cycle the students’ activity only achieved 43.75%. Whereas the mean score of the students is only 43.75. The researcher did a correction by simplifying the material, facilitating the students to find the six patterns of nets cube, applying reward and punishment method, giving students opportunity to ask questions, giving suggestions to the students, and giving written feedback and also making appropriate evaluation questions that is suited to the working plan. It resulted the increase of students’ activity to 82.5%. It can also be seen in the increase of the mean score of the students, which is 87.26. The researcher suggests the teachers to apply this method in teaching Mathematics for elementary school students because this model is very suitable for students’ developmental stage
