Abstract

This study was conducted in SMK Bina Wisata Lembang. In order to juxtapose the suitability of graduate quality and the graduate work ability, then teaching and learning activities are possible to be conducted in two places, at school and in industry. At school, students are taught theories and practices, while in the industry students are required to practice the theories and practices. Thorugh this learning process, vocational school students will gain valuable experience as a preparation to enter the industry or job market and it is expected that students' competency can increase as students return to their school. This research consists of two variables namely industrial internship (X) and students’ competency (Y). The purpose of this study is to know the description of the level of industrial work practice, to determine the picture of students’ competency and to find out how big the influence of the industrial internship towards the students’ competency. This study employs descriptive and verified methods. The population in this research is 72 students of SMK Bina Wisata Lembang. The data were analyzed by using simple regression analysis. Based on the result of the study, it is obtained that the industrial work practice is in the category of quite effective and the competencies of the students are in the category of moderate. Hypothesis test shows that the industrial internship has a significant impact on the competencies of students of SMK Bina Wisata Lembang.----- Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMK Bina Wisata Lembang. Dalam rangka mendekatkan kesesuaian mutu tamatan dengan kemampuan kerja, maka kegiatan belajar mengajar akan dimungkinkan dapat berlangsung di dua tempat, di sekolah dan di industri. Di sekolah, para siswa diajarkan teori dan praktik, sedangkan di industri siswa dituntut mempraktikkan materi pelajaran teori dan praktik tersebut. Dengan proses belajar seperti ini, para siswa SMK akan memperoleh pengalaman yang sangat berharga sebagai persiapan memasuki dunia industri atau bursa kerja serta diharapkan kompetensi siswa dapat mengalami peningkatan saat siswa kembali belajar di sekolah. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua variabel yaitu praktek kerja industri (X) dan kompetensi siswa (Y). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran tingkat praktek kerja industri, untuk mengetahui gambaran nilai kompetensi siswa dan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh praktek kerja industri terhadap kompetensi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dan verifikatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 72 siswa di SMK Bina Wisata Lembang. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi sederhana. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh informasi bahwa praktek kerja industri berada pada kategori cukup efektif dan kompetensi siswa berada pada kategori sedang. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa praktek kerja industri berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kompetensi siswa di SMK Bina Wisata Lembang.
