Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk; (1) mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan kognitif, (2) mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, (3) mengklasifikasi level kemampuan pemecahan masalah pelajar pada materi Hukum-hukum Newton, (4) mengidentifikasi hubungan kemampuan kognitif dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah, serta (5) mengetahui pendapat pelajar terkait penerapan pembelajaran Fisika menggunakan Multiple Representation. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Eksperimental dengan bentuk desain non equivalent Control Group design. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu soal pilihan ganda untuk mengukur kemampuan kognitif dan soal essay untuk mengukur kemampuan pemecahan masalah, lembar observasi dan angket tanggapan pelajar. Data dianalisis dengan menentukan persentase rata-rata gain di normalisasi dan uji korelasi regresi linear antara kemampuan kognitif dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: peningkatan kemampuan kognitif pelajar berdasarkan analisis gain ternormalisasi untuk kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sama mencapai kategori “sedang Selain itu hasil pengukuran kemampuan pemacahan masalah diperoleh; pelajar kelas eksperimen berada pada level “Needs Some Improvement” dan kelas kontrol pada level “Inadequate”. Sedangkan hubungan antara kemampuan kognitif dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yaitu “korelasi positif” dengan kategori “rendah”.------------ The purpose of this research is to; (3) classify students' problem solving abilities in Newton's Law materials, (4) identify the relationship of cognitive ability and problem-solving abilities, and (5) to know the improvement of cognitive ability; Opinions of students related to the application of Physics learning using External Representation. The research method used is Quasi Experimental with non equivalent design form Control Group design. The research instrument used is multiple choice question to measure cognitive ability and essay problem to measure problem solving ability, observation sheet and questionnaire. Data were analyzed by determining percentage of average gain in normalization and linear regression test correlation between cognitive ability and problem solving ability. The results showed that: the improvement of students' cognitive abilities based on the normalized gain analysis for the experimental class reached the "medium" category, and the control class also reached the "medium" category. In addition, the results of the measurement of problem-solving ability are obtained; The experimental class learner is at the "Needs Some Improvement" level and the control class at the "Inadequate" level. While the correlation between cognitive ability and problem-solving ability is positive with "low" category.
