Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan workbook pada tema sistem transportasi untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penguasaan konsep siswa SMP Kelas VIII. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and development (RnD) Thiagarajan dengan desain penelitian kuasi-eksperimen. Tahapan penelitian ini terdiri dari tahap 1 define; tahap 2 design; tahap 3 development; tahap 4 dissemination. Aspek keterampilan berpikir kritis dalam penelitian ini mengacu pada kerangka kerja Robert H.Ennis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konten workbook sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum SMP dan tujuan penelitian yang hendak dicapai. Berdasarkan uji keterpahaman ide pokok dan uji kualitas, workbook yang dikembangkan dinyatakan baik dan layak. Sesuai hasil ujicoba penelitian, diketahui bahwa workbook yang dikembangkan dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dengan perolehan N-gain berturut-turut sebesar 0,68 dan 0,66 yang termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan uji dampak, diperoleh nilai 1,57 untuk peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan nilai 0,47 untuk peningkatan penguasaan konsep; kedunya termasuk dalam kategori efektif. Sementara itu persepsi siswa terhadap penggunaan workbook dalam pembelajaran IPA rata-rata positif. Siswa setuju bahwa aktifitas dalam workbook yang mereka gunakan dapat melatihkan keterampilan berpikir kritis serta penguasaan konsep. ------------------------------ Research has been conducted to develop workbooks on the theme of transportation system to improve critical thinking skills and mastery of students concept of SMP Class VIII. The research method used is Research and Development (RnD) Thiagarajan with quasi-experimental research design. This research stage consists of stage 1 define; stage 2 design; stage 3 development; stage 4 dissemination. Aspects of critical thinking skills in this study refers to the framework of Robert H. Ennis. The results showed that the workbook content in accordance with the demands of the SMP curriculum and research objectives to be achieved. Based on the main idea of understanding test and quality test, the developed workbook is declared good and feasible. In accordance with the results of the research trials, it is known that the workbooks developed can improve critical thinking skills by obtaining N-gain successively by 0.68 and 0.66 which fall into the high category. Based on the results of the calculation of impact test, obtained value of 1.57 for improvement of critical thinking skills and value 0.47 for improvement of concept mastery; both belong to the effective category. Meanwhile, the students' perceptions on the use of workbook in science learning are on average positive. Students agree that the activities in the workbook they use can train critical thinking skills and conceptual mastery.
