Abstract

Menulis merupakan salah satu keterampilan berbahasa yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa. Dalam menulis teks eksplanasi, siswa dituntut untuk menjelaskan proses atau peristiwa terjadinya sesuatu secara ilmiah. Akan tetapi, siswa masih mendapati kesulitan dalam mengemukakan sebuah gagasan ke dalam tulisan karena kurangnya kegiatan membaca. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan metode dan media yang tepat guna mengembangkan keterampilan menulis siswa. Metode Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition berbantuan multimedia dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif penggunaan metode dan media untuk mengasah keterampilan siswa dalam menulis teks eksplanasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji perbedaan kemampuan menulis siswa menggunakan metode Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition berbantuan multimedia dengan metode konvensional dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII G dan VIII H di SMP Negeri 29 Bandung. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan teknik sampling purposive. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data penelitian, terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan siswa dalam menulis teks eksplanasi menggunakan metode CIRC berbantuan multimedia di kelas eksperimen dengan metode konvensional di kelas kontrol. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari nilai rata-rata siswa di kelas eksperimen pada saat prates sebesar 57,65, sedangkan pada saat pascates sebesar 73,66. Adapun nilai rata-rata siswa di kelas kontrol pada saat prates sebesar 53,34, sedangkan pada saat pascates sebesar 63,91. Selain itu, perbedaan juga didasarkan pada perolehan t hitung > t tabel yaitu 3.751 > 2.000. Dengan demikian, metode CIRC berbantuan multimedia dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi.----------Writing is one of the language skills that must be mastered by students. In writing explanatory text, students are required to explain the process or event of something’ occurrence scientifically. However, students still have difficulty to writing due to the lack of reading activity. Therefore, choosing appropriate method and media in learning writing is greatly needed in order to develop and train students’ writing skill. Therefore, the researcher tested multimedia–assisted Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition method to enhance students’ skill in writing explanatory text. This study aimed to elaborate a significant difference of students’ ability in writing explanatory text in the experimental and control class. The research method used was quasi experimental design with non-equivalent control group design. The subject of the research was students of class VIII G and VIII H in SMP Negeri 29 Bandung. The sampling was conducted by using ‘sampling purposive’ technique. Based on the result of testing the research data, there was a significant difference of students’ ability in writing explanatory text after employing multimedia–assisted CIRC method in the experimental class and conventional method in control class. This can be seen from the mean score of pretest in the experimental class is 57,65 and the posttest is 73,66. The mean score of the students in control class during pretest is 53,34 and the posttest is 63,91. In addition to that, the difference was also based on the result of t arithmetic > t table that was 3.751 > 2.000. Thus, multimedia–assisted CIRC method can be applied in learning writing explanatory text.
