Abstract
Penelitian ini membahas hubungan penguasaan konsep dengan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal diagram proses. Hal ini dilatarbelakangi oleh digunakannya diagram sebagai media pembelajaran, namun siswa memiliki kesulitan dalam membaca atau menginterpretasi diagram. Penguasaan konsep merupakan faktor penting dalam menginterpretasi diagram. Oleh karena itu dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran hubungan penguasaan konsep dengan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal diagram proses. Penelitian deskriptif ini, dilakukan pada salah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Bandung. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu tes penguasaan konsep dan tes diagram proses, serta wawancara sebagai pelengkap data penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penguasaan konsep yang dimiliki siswa rendah dan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal diagram proses berada dikategori ‘sedang’, rata-rata skor diagram proses tertinggi berada pada indikator mengidentifikasi komponen pada diagram proses dan pada sub materi jaring-jaring makanan. Rata-rata skor diagram proses pada kelompok penguasaan konsep rendah dan tingi berbeda signifikan (kelompok penguasaan konsep tinggi memiliki rata-rata skor lebih tinggi dibanding kelompok penguasaan konsep rendah). Selain itu, berdasarkan analisis data penguasaan konsep dengan kemampuan menyelesaikan soal diagram proses berkorelasi sedang. Hasil wawancara menunjukkan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal diagram proses, yaitu: (1) sumber belajar yang dipakai siswa (buku paket atau buku saku); (2) gaya belajar siswa; dan (3) kegiatan pembelajaran. Dengan demikian secara umum penguasaan konsep (concept mastery) dan kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal diagram proses berhubungan. Kata kunci: penguasaan konsep, diagram proses, kemampuan menyelesaikan soal diagram proses. ABSTRACT This research explained about the connection between concept mastery and students’ ability to solve diagram process problem. This research based on the use of diagrams as learning media but students have difficulty in reading or interpreting the diagram. Concept mastery is an important factor in interprenting the diagram. Therefore, the research is aimed to obtain a description of the connection of concept mastery with the students' ability in solving the process diagram problem. This descriptical research, conducted on one of Senior High School in Bandung. The research instrument used is concept mastery test and process diagram test, and also interview as a data research complement. The results showed that students’ concept mastery is low and students’ ability to solve the problem of process diagrams is categorized as 'moderate', the higest average score on diagram process are on indentifying the components on diagram process indicator and food web sub subject. The average of diagram process score on high matery concept group and low matery concep group are significanly diffrent (high concept mastery groups have higher average score than low concept mastery groups). Futhermore, based on the data analysis, concept mastery correlated with the ability to solve diagram process problem. The results of the interviews show the factors that influence the students' ability to solve diagram process, namely: (1) the learning resources used by the students; (2) students’ learning style; and (3) learning activities. Therefore, in general the concept mastery and students’ ability to solve the problem of process diagrams correlated.
