Abstract

Literasi sains siswa Indonesia saat ini masih dapat dikatakan rendah. Hal ini dibuktikan dari hasil studi PISA 2012, Indonesia menempati peringkat 64 dari 65 negara peserta. Salah satu penyebab rendahnya literasi sains siswa tersebut adalah karena penggunaan bahan ajar yang umumnya masih menitikberatkan pada dimensi konten yang bersifat hafalan dibandingkan dengan dimensi konteksnya. Studi ini berfokus pada bagaimana cara mengkonstruksi bahan ajar Kimia SMA berbasis konteks topik OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) dengan desain penelitian Model of Educational Reconstruction. Topik ini dipilih karena bersifat kekinian dan berkaitan dengan keseharian siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperoleh perspektif saintis terhadap OLED dan konsep Kimia SMA terkait; prakonsepsi siswa tentang OLED dan konsep Kimia SMA terkait serta ketertarikan siswa terhadap bahan ajar konteks OLED; proses rekonstruksi bahan ajar tersebut; karakteristik bahan ajar yang dikonstruksi; serta informasi tentang kelayakan dan keterbacaan produk bahan ajar tersebut. Beberapa temuan dalam studi ini adalah: 1) perspektif saintis yang meliputi definisi, struktur, karakteristik dan prinsip kerja OLED, 2) konsep kimia yang terkait OLED antara lain teori atom Bohr, redoks, polimer dan senyawa aromatik, 3) prakonsepsi siswa tentang OLED yang belum sepenuhnya sesuai dengan perspektif saintis, 4) ketertarikan siswa untuk mempelajari bahan ajar dengan konteks OLED, 5) proses konstruksi yang meliputi analisis literatur, perumusan indikator dan tujuan pembelajaran sesuai KI-KD dan kompetensi PISA dan modifikasi teks, 6) urutan penyampaian bahan ajar yang mengadopsi sekuensi pembelajaran STL (Sains dan Teknologi Literasi) dengan pendekatan berbasis konteks dimana konteks OLED dan konten kimia disajikan terpisah dan 7) bahan ajar dinyatakan layak dan sesuai untuk siswa SMA. Kata Kunci: Bahan ajar, OLED, Model of Educational Reconstruction, pembelajaran berbasis literasi sains Indonesian student’s science literacy is still very low. This fact is proved by PISA study result in 2012, which shows that Indonesian students are in position number 64 from 65 participant countries. One of the causes is the use of instructional material which generally still emphasizes knowledge of science (that just rely on remembering skill) rather than knowledge about science (that focused on the context of the science itself). This study is focused on how to constuct OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) topic High School Chemistry Context-based Instructional Material using Model of Educational Reconstruction research design. OLED is chosen because it is up-to-date and relevant to real life. The objectives of this study are to find out scientist’s perspective about OLED and its related high school Chemistry concepts; learner’s preconceptions about OLED and related high school Chemistry concepts and interest of using OLED-based Chemistry instructional material; reconstruction proccess of OLED-based Chemistry instructional material; characteristics of the constucted instructional material; and information about feasibility and readibility of the constructed instructional material. The findings of this study are: 1) scientist’s perspective about OLED include its definitions, structure, characteristic and how OLED work, 2) Chemistry concepts related to OLED e.g. Bohr’s theory of atom, redox, polymer, adn aromatic, 3) learner’s preconceptions about OLED are not entirely right as if scientist’s perspective, 4) students are interested to learn from OLED-based Chemistry instructional material, 5) construction proccess include literature analysis, state of indicator and objectives instruction, 6) sequential of the instruction material adopted from STL using context-based approach which OLED context and it’s related Chemistry concept are presented separately, and 7) feasibility and readibility test result which show that OLED-based Chemistry instructional material are feasible and appropriate for high school students.
