Abstract

Model Pembelajaran Ekspresi Vokal “Broadway” untuk Mahasiswa Jurusan Vokal Kontemporer UPH merupakan judul tesis yang bertujuan untuk merancang, mengimplementasikan dan meninjau hasil penerapan desain pembelajaran dalam membantu mahasiswa mengekspresikan lagu “Broadway”. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran ekspresi vokal “Broadway” adalah Design Based Research melalui pendekatan kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan melalui observasi (pengamatan), wawancara, dokumentasi, studi pustaka, dan analisis dokumen. Pengolahan dan analisis data dilakukan dengan catatan lapangan, reduksi data, data display dan verifikasi data. Model pembelajaran tersebut mempunyai empat aspek yang menjadi point penting, yaitu : (1) Teknik vokal, (2) Style, (3) Interpretasi dalam lagu, (4) Ekspresi. Berdasarkan empat aspek tersebut, tesis penelitian ini disusun menjadi tiga tahapan yaitu: (1) Tahapan integrasi teknik dan style, (2) Tahapan interpretasi dalam lagu, (3) Tahapan eskpresi. Ketiga tahapan tersebut diterapkan dalam tiga kali pertemuan terhadap empat mahasiswa vokal kontemporer di Universitas Pelita Harapan, Conservatory of Music. Model pembelajaran eskpresi vokal “Broadway” untuk mahasiswa jurusan vokal kontemporer UPH memadukan teknik, dan style sebagai landasan berekspresi. Analisis partitur dan lirik digunakan untuk memahami pesan dan latar belakang lagu. Sehingga mahasiswa dapat mengungkapkan emosi sesuai dengan style dan interpretasi. Emosi yang muncul tercermin pada mimik wajah, gestures, dan pengolahan unsur musikal. Hasil pembelajaran mampu memberi nilai tambah pada performa mereka sebagai penyanyi profesional. Kata kunci : Pembelajaran ekspresi, teknik vokal, style, interpretasi, penyanyi profesional The "Broadway" Vocal Expression Learning Model for Students of UPH's Contemporary Vocal School is the title of a thesis aimed at designing, implementing and reviewing the results of applying learning designs in helping students express the song "Broadway". The method used to develop the learning model of vowel expressions "Broadway" is a Design Based Research through a qualitative approach. Data collection is done through observation (observation), interview, documentation, literature study, and document analysis. Processing and data analysis is done with field notes, data reduction, data display and data verification. The learning model has four important aspects: (1) Vocal technique, (2) Style, (3) Interpretation in song, (4) Expression. Based on these four aspects, the research thesis is organized into three stages: (1) Stages of integration of techniques and styles, (2) Stages of interpretation in songs, (3) Stages of expression. These three stages are applied in three meetings of four contemporary vocal students at Universitas Pelita Harapan, Conservatory of Music. The vocal expression "Broadway" vocal learning model for UPH's contemporary vocal students combines engineering, and style as the cornerstone of expression. Literary analysis and lyrics are used to understand the message and background of the song. So that students can express emotions in accordance with the style and interpretation. Emotions that appear are reflected in facial expression, gestures, and processing of musical elements. Learning outcomes can add value to their performance as a professional singer.
